Best vegan glazed donut I have ever had, and it is worth going back just for this. Friendly service and working fast as they could on a super busy morning after a 5K had just let out.

Dietary restrictions: Vegan options for sandwich and pastry. Non-dairy milks for a surcharge.

Such an amazing bagel! Like definitely one of the best bagels I’ve had! We got their smooth criminal and the fig jam was such a hidden gem. The mix of sweet and savory really hit the spot. We also tried the herb bagel and that was also very tasty!!

The coffee here, specifically the lattes are absolutely amazing. I cannot recommend it enough! The bagels were okay, a little bit small and without too much flavor for the price point. I would have given this place 4 stars if not for the amazing coffee.

Good coffee, good bagels, but the real star was the coffee cake donut, one of the best donuts I’ve ever had.

Hero Coffee and Bagel Bar is a solid little spot for a quick bite and a great cup of coffee. Grabbed a smoked salmon bagel ($10) and a pour-over coffee ($5), and both hit the spot. The bagel was fresh and had a good chew, and the salmon was high quality—not overly salty. The coffee was smooth and well-balanced, definitely better than your average grab-and-go spot. The shop itself has a funky, laid-back vibe, and the staff was super friendly, even during the morning rush. Spent about $15, and it was worth every penny. Definitely a go-to for a quality breakfast on the move!

Good bagel place. The place is small, without much space to wait for the sandwiches. Very friendly and efficient service. Good bagel sandwiches, with vegetarian and vegan options. Good value for money. Worth a visit.

Haven't had the coffee, but as for the bagel sandwiches? Entirely mediocre. Just didn't feel like it was worth it.

Wasn’t a fan of the political activism on the wall. Would prefer a more neutral setting.

However, they do get five stars from me because the food & coffee were good & while they didn’t say anything when I sat in there for multiple hours waiting for my next appointment at the state department.

I wanted a decent coffee, so I stopped in.

I ordered an Americano and it was great. Very smooth without bitterness you find at some places. I drink my coffee black and have no complaints!

Something happened where I had to wait a little long and staff made it right without me asking for anything or bringing it up.

Quality place that takes pride in their work and their customer service!

It's a little hipster spot with the layout of a bar. Had 4 TVs with news, sports, and anime playing

Hero Coffee and Bagel Bar is the perfect spot if you're looking for a chill vibe and amazing coffee. I grabbed a pour-over coffee, and it hit just right—smooth and not too bitter. The bagels? Fire. I went for the classic lox bagel, and it was everything I wanted—fresh bagel, perfect spread, and tons of flavor. The place itself is super funky with cool art on the walls and a laid-back atmosphere. Spent around $15 for coffee and a bagel, which is a solid deal for the quality. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in the area and want some fresh, local eats with your caffeine fix.

Saw this cafe mentioned and gave it a go. I expected it to be good. At first i wasn’t sure being a non native US guy. The service was real friendly and the bagel was a really tasty and good after many bad experiences elsewhere. So as a tourist i approve ! Coffee was great also(comming from an aussie coffee snob:)

Excellent bagel sandwiches (including tasty veggie options) and coffee with friendly service and enjoyable music. Just around the corner from the Harold Washington Library Center.
