When I was checking out at the front, I was asked to sign the bill, and the front desk person just clicked the 18% tip option for me. That was it—I didn’t even have time to think. There were clearly three tipping options (15%, 18%, and 20%), but he decided to choose it for me? I was shocked. They barely served our table; I had to walk downstairs to pay the check and even ask for to-go boxes myself.

Insanely rude manager/boss and the food wasn’t even good or fresh…

The food is good. But there is a kind of bad smell in the restaurant. And you can get a coupon for parking, which is great.

Hunan Bistro (Chicago) serves authentic Hunan food.
The food tasted good, but my son and husband said the pork didn’t have a lot of meat on the bones.
The fried lotus I ordered was alright.
We noticed others ordering a dry hot pot, which looked good and maybe we should have tried that.
The service wasn’t bad, but our server was maybe a bit distracted.
Over all our experience was descent and I can’t complain.
After a long day of traveling we were happy to get some hot food that tasted pretty good.

One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago Chinatown! The food is always high quality and the offering of Hunan cuisine sets this bistro apart from other restaurants in the area.

Summary for all 1 star: expensive, no service, no taste. The only flavor here is spicy. Nos service, we only saw them three times: when they brought food, asked us have you ordered, and when they handed us the check. No water service as well, super long waiting time and after spending $100+, still feel hungry.

We had a family gathering here and it was just perfect! Great atmosphere, large tables with a lazy Susan in the center for sharing. The food is cooked perfectly, the beef and chicken dinners were tender and delicious. Spicy is not over powering but just enough kick to make it tasty!

We had a lunch at this place. The atmosphere was lousy and worn out. In terms of food, I don’t like it much. I felt sick that night. I was not sure if the sick came from the food or not, I could only take a guess. Anyway, I probably will not come back again.

A very authentic Northwestern Hunan restaurant with reasonable prices. It’s located at the far end of Chinatown, so it takes a bit of a walk to get there, but it’s well worth the trip.
