While staying at the Zach, Mordecai is very conveniently located right downstairs. Food & drinks were very good and I like the “small plate” format which allows to try different things without all of the add ons. We visited on a Friday night with Christkindlmarket across the street at Wrigley so very busy which may have attributed to the restaurant being very loud and seating tightly spaced. Overall though, a fun night.
The service was sparse. Our server was very pleasant, but unavailable and inattentive. Our foccacia appetizer took 45 minutes to arrive from time ordered, and our pastas took an hour for the first two to arrive, and then another 10 for the second two of our party to receive theirs. One of the pastas was incorrectly made, it it took 10 minutes for our server to resurface to have the kitchen remake it correctly, which took another 15 minutes, so the other three were finished eating...
The food was excellent. Our server was superb! The drink were a little pricey, but that's true for any nice restaurant these days. Whenever we are in Wrigleyville, Mordecai is our go to restaurant.
