Mordecai Reviews

Stopped in before a Friday afternoon Cubs game with a couple of buddies, and we were able to snag some bar seats around 11:30, but it quickly filled up right after that so make sure you either get a rez or come early if you want to hit it before a game, the space doesn't seat too many. Service was great, nice selection of local drafts - had to get the Bleacher Bum Ale from Spiteful before we headed into the bleachers. I decided to go big because I was hungry and get the Deluxe...read full review
We had a client lunch at Mordecai before the Cubs game and the entire staff was great, but Erika’s customer service is what really pushed the experience over the edge.

Mordecai offers excellent, personal service and a wide variety of dishes in the heart of Wrigleyville. The restaurant features a cozy, sophisticated, and charming atmosphere, making it a great place to dine before an event or game. It has a wild selection of drinks, including Spirit-forward cocktails and a great whisky flight. The food is delicious, with standout dishes like the burger, rigatoni, and tartare. Customers have enjoyed pregame snacks like frilled asparagus and blackened cauliflower, paired with decent margaritas. The menu is short, efficient, and delicious, with large portions and homemade pasta and sauces. The mixologists are talented and very accommodating.
The atmosphere is fun looking out at historic Wrigley Field, making it stellar. While some reviews mention that service can be slow at times, the server is often attentive and friendly. Vegetarian options are customizable, and while the restaurant is wheelchair accessible, there are no gluten-free designations on the menu. Mordecai is not the loud and crowded bar that Wrigleyville is known for, but it can still get noisy, making it somewhat challenging to hold conversations. The restaurant is small, so finding a quiet spot can be difficult. Despite these issues, the food remains praised, and the manager has demonstrated good service. There is also a note about a 3% adder fee for credit card customers and only one bathroom available for guests. Overall, it is a great neighborhood spot worth stopping by for dinner or drinks.
