Hyderabad House Family Dining

We called the restaurant at 11:10 PM and spoke with a staff member to confirm their dine-in hours. She informed us that if we arrived by 11:30 PM, we would still be able to order and dine in, so we proceeded to reserve a table for four.
However, upon arrival, we were met by another staff member who behaved rudely and informed us that the kitchen was already closed and they would not be able to serve us. He also mentioned that accommodating us would delay their preparations for the next day.
Our concern is not just about being denied service, but about the lack of clear communication. We relied on the information provided over the phone and made the effort to travel there, only to be turned away. It would have been more appropriate to inform us accurately during the call, rather than allowing us to come in under the impression that we would be served.

I recently visited Hyderabadi House and had an amazing experience. The food was extremely tasty and felt very authentic. The haleem was exceptionally good—rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked.

We were also recommended to try the chicken boti, and that suggestion turned out to be perfect—it was absolutely excellent and full of flavor. The overall experience was very satisfying, and the service and food quality really stood out.

I would definitely rate this place 5 out of 5. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great Hyderabadi-style food in Chicago.

I just love the taste of the biryani which is 100% pure hyderabadi biryani!!!

The best authentic Hyderabad mutton biryani in Devon.

Great ambiance and very clean, hygienic resturant. Food is really good
and can feel the freshness of biryani.

HAIR IN FOOD
This place is very dirty. As other reviewers mentioned there are cockroaches and other insects running around dining table. The biryani i ordered contained not one but multiple hair strands. The hair was white/grey and I have black hair so its not mine. Absolutely disgusting! I called them and they refused it was from them. Avoid this place like the plague!

I visited Family restaurant-Mutton Biryani was good. Rice were soft and not greasy. Quantity was good. Better than many Hyderabadi restaurants on Devon.

Ambience is bit Hyderabadi style. And bit relaxing , not unlike other restaurants (fish market)

The haleem was exceptionally good—rich, flavorful, and absolutely worth trying. Just a small heads-up: the portions are huge. It’s best to finish what you have before placing a second order, because one serving is more than enough to fill your tummy to the brim! We also tried the dhaba chicken, which was delicious, and the spice levels were adjustable to our preference.

The service was impressive as well. The staff were polite, attentive, and made sure we were comfortable throughout our visit. The only downside was the timing—while the restaurant was listed as opening at 10 AM, they actually opened at 1 PM. So it’s a good idea to double-check their hours before heading over. They might have updated it now.

3.8 rating is a TOTAL LIE! This place is a steal! They have HUGEEE quantities, and amazzing taste.So. lose to authentic hyderabad flavour compared to anywhere else I tasted. Good , quiet sitting space, and servers were super polite. Se ordered chicken 65 (10 starss), mutton biryani ( unlimited stars), and a lamb haleem ( superrr good) with butter nan.

I am definitely coming back. Such a gem find.

The food is completely worse, we ordered mutton briyani which was very bad and we told the staff that food was not properly cooked and they said they can replace with chicken biryani but they said it will take more 30 min which was very dissapointing and the staff was very rude to us i sincerly suggest you dont visit this restaurant , its waste of time and waste of money

The food was extremely disappointing, lacking both taste and quality. I ordered the mutton biryani, but the pieces were undercooked. When we complained, instead of handling it reasonably, they mentioned an unacceptably long time to the address the issue…never coming back to these restaurant..worst experience

Stopped by for dinner and dropped about $35 on a Chicken Biryani and a side of Haleem. The biryani was packed with tender chicken and perfectly spiced basmati—not too heavy, just right. The haleem was rich and creamy, and the garlic naan was fresh. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was elegant but relaxed—felt like a little getaway to Devon Avenue’s best. Definitely coming back!

I visited with my family for dinner, look so early around 6.00 .. it was small space though ambiance is good and neat

We ordered Goat biriyani, garlic naan and Hyderabad chicken it was delicious and personal choice is Biriyani. Service was great 😊

Next visit to Devon will directly to this place hoping to bring my parents they will love it 😊

We tried the biryani they said it was hyderabadi but it clearly says it’s a pan biryani not even close to hyderabadi dum biryani . Worst biryani ever
