While the food and service were excellent, what was notable to our group about Jeong was the atmosphere and aesthetics: small with well-spaced tables; quiet (attention clearly was paid to controlling the noise level); a calm atmosphere and service; interior decoration and table decoration that is consistent in its color scheme and clean lines (yet warm with use of wood, browns and tans, and copper). These elements made the dining experience truly enjoyable.
First of all, I am shocked that Jeong doesn't have a Michelin star or two yet. It's criminal. The food is incredible. Chef Dave has the most remarkable ability to incorporate subtlety and complexity into his delicate dishes. Jen's warm greeting when you walk in feels like coming home. The atmosphere is beautiful, calming, and a perfect compliment to the entire experience. You cannot find a finder dining experience in Chicago for the price...or at any price for that...
It was truly an enjoyable experience. We love tasting menus but generally there is at least one dish you are not fan of but not at Jeong, every dish was delicious and impeccable service.
