It's okay. Food is hit or miss, service also. Pretty much only worth it if you're staying at the hotel and get a discount. I will say that the bao and ramen are probably their tastier options.

My friend and I were excited to try Kerei, but our experience was completely overshadowed by one of the most inappropriate and uncomfortable encounters I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The moment we sat down, our server made unsolicited and offensive comments comparing us to women he talks to online — specifically saying we looked like Cuban women who ask him for phone credits and Venezuelan women who ask him for money for groceries. He then bragged about women coming over to his house, in a way that felt degrading and insinuating.
We were stunned. What was supposed to be a pleasant dinner turned into a moment where we felt judged, disrespected, and sexualized by someone who should have been providing a professional service. Instead of feeling welcomed, we were made to feel small, stereotyped, and deeply uncomfortable.
This kind of behavior is not just unprofessional — it’s completely unacceptable. A restaurant is not a place for a server to project his personal biases or inappropriate stories onto paying guests. Management should seriously reconsider who they allow to represent their business.
I wouldn’t recommend Kerei to anyone until they take real action to ensure this never happens to another guest. We go out to enjoy food and good company — not to be objectified or harassed.

Food was decent.
Place was NOT busy, but wait staff acted as if they were swamped. Service was mediocre.
Had random non-Japanese music playing.
Menu quite broad and lacking a bit of focus ….???pizza??
All in all a reasonable meal, but not memorable enough to want to come back.

Went here for Chicago restaurant week. The aesthetic was very nice and so was the food. I had the beef noodle soup and pork dumplings, which were really good. Would definitely recommend this spot.

I went here with a friend for Chicago restaurant week 2025. The service was fantastic. The restaurant was completely empty during happy hour and 6pm on a Friday though, which should have been a warning sign. The miso salmon was presented well, but the fish tasted and smelled spoiled. The staff was very considerate and offered the beef noodle soup instead, which tasted better, but was so spicy that I could only eat a little. The best part of the meal was the dessert, which was akin to what one might find an Asian grocery store. Overall, I would not go here for restaurant week or even a normal meal in the future.

JOSE IS AMAZING and this place is Under rated for sure. Staff is so nice and it was empty. Like zero people there but idk, if there were more people it would be so bumpin for sure. The environment is nice, easy to get in from the Whitehall, and the crispy rice is super tasty!!!
Also got their house White.
Server is very accommodating to us when we asked to split the wine cuz we didn’t want A whole lot!
Love this place , super cozy too:)

We have been here a few times now and I don’t understand why this is not a more popular dinner spot! The food is delicious and reasonably priced. They have great flavor combos. Highly recommend!

During my stay in Chicago, I visited Kirei Restaurant for breakfast and had a pleasant experience. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff made it enjoyable. I ordered the 3-egg omelette with potatoes and multigrain bread, which was delicious. The only suggestion I have is for larger coffee portions. Overall, Kirei offers a solid breakfast option along with its modern Asian cuisine, known for fresh ingredients and excellent presentation.
