First time there, certainly not last. Unassuming place but walked in and was greeted immediately by Alex. Welcoming is an understatement. He let me smell his experimental beans and roasts, talked coffee with me for 20min and even made me a special drink on the house called a ‘Dirty Grey’ with tea in it. Bought 4lbs roasted the day before. Cannot recommend this place enough for beans.
Probably Chicago's best kept coffee secret. If you have traveled to Italy, you know how good and unique the coffee flavor is. And when you get back to the United States and want to make an espresso or cappuccino, it's hard to acheive that same flavor. Sure, you can buy Lavazza and Illy. I can smell the beans roasting every day at noon like clockwork! Absolutely the freshest coffee available anywhere in the city. Buy them whole and grind yourself as you use, you'll never go back to anything else.
