We got the beef noodle soup and the beef & green onion dumplings. The broth, which is the most important component of these two dishes, was disappointingly bland and lacked complexity. The dumplings had thicker wrappers, which worked well in a bowl of broth. They were decent but not flavorful enough to save the broth, which offered little beyond a strong vinegary taste. The house-made noodles were satisfyingly chewy and silky. However, its broth came through strong only with the numbing Sichuan peppercorn but missed all the rich and umami flavors of a beef broth.

Awesome little spot - busy on a Friday night but if you get there before 6 your wait is probably less than an hour. BYOB some wine and enjoy the noodles and dumplings. The sweet tofu dish was just okay, but the bread, noodles, and dumplings were fantastic.

The antithesis of a Chinese restaurant. The only thing they got right is all the food is covered in oil.

Delicious dumplings with a tasty broth. Could use more Szechuan pepper for a more authentic taste (compared to what you get in chengdu). Good portion size. They pay their employees health insurance which is nice to know and should be part of other restaurants.

Really nice place and generally great food! I come back all the time literally just for the bings. The main downside is how loud the music can be on any given day.

Very mediocre beef noodle soup for $19. Broth was color of chicken broth, too much peppercorn and not enough chili pepper, skimped on the beef, and they used tong ho for some reason as the vegetable. Also charged 4% extra for employee health insurance… as if $19 for a bowl of beef noodles doesnt make enough money for the owners lol. Not worth coming back

hands down our fav restaurant in the city. the very next day after eating here, we wanted to eat here again and that almost never happens. every single thing we’ve tried has been out of this world. the sauce that the dumplings come in — you could drink it. the dan dan noodles are very delectable. the xi’an bun is fresh made and has cumin and spices in it — def take it to go with you. honestly when you order here’s you should order extra food to take with you when you leave. i don’t believe you can make a reservation, i think you have to come in and get on a list but the wait is so worth it. there’s several bars in the near vicinity to wait at, and we’ve always waited less than an hour.

The freshest Chinese food I've had so far. The atmosphere is quaint and warm with the perfect dim lighting. The Four Tops, Chaka Khan, and other old school R&B/Pop music add to the soothing ambiance.

Each dish is made to order and feels like a big hug. Nothing was outrageously priced either, so you're getting quality food that's easy on the wallet.

I want to come back with a bottle of wine and a book and get cozy. I see many visits here in the future, and I can't wait to come back.

Thank you, Lao Peng You, for a full belly and a beautiful fall dinner. This is now my hub❤️

First time here last night and it was 10/10. Great food, good vibes, and easy service. It’s also BYOB! We did have to wait 40 minutes but it was well worth it. Loved the small simple menu & large portions! We will be back for sure!
