Been here a few times to eat and grab drinks, however Fernando at the front as soo accomodating. It was Valentine's Day and my wife and I walked in hoping to grab a few after dinner drinks. He warmly welcomed us. Along with Marco, the bartender, even dib'd stools for us because we were waiting almost an hour for chairs to open up. Top notch hospitality.

This place was such a treat! My fiancé and I went here to celebrate our engagement and the food, service, and ambiance all exceeded our expectations.

I had a very disappointing experience at Le Colonial. From the moment we arrived, the service felt inattentive and disorganized. We waited far too long to be acknowledged, drinks took forever, and it was difficult to get anyone’s attention throughout the meal.
Unfortunately, the food did not make up for it. Several dishes arrived lukewarm, lacked flavor, and did not match the quality you would expect for the price point.
To make matters worse, I felt sick later that night and experienced what seemed like food poisoning after eating there. That alone makes it impossible for me to consider returning.
With so many dining options in Chicago, I would strongly recommend going elsewhere.

Le Colonial is hands down our favorite Chicago restaurant. The atmosphere is so unique and cozy, especially during Chicago winter. You feel like you’ve been transformed. The food is high quality ingredients, each bit is full of flavor and veggies. It’s delightful! And the service is next level. Located on Oak Street, we have started to come here for every special occasion. And now that we are celebrating more often at home with a little one, Le Colonial takeout is our favorite! SO DELICIOUS! Highly recommend the chicken curry and beef noodles. Can’t recommend Le Colonia enough.

Sadly, Le Colonial didn’t live up to the hype. The atmosphere was lovely, but the food was just average—nothing memorable. The two of us had the Cha gio, Banh Uot, Pho Bo, and Bo Luc Lac. Portions were surprisingly small for the price, and we left still hungry after spending quite a bit. For the cost, we expected more flavor and substance. Beautiful setting, but overall a disappointing experience.

Elegant space and classic French‑Vietnamese vibe 🌴🍷, but my experience was a mixed bag. Ambiance is charming and cocktails are strong, yet service popped in and out, and some dishes underwhelmed 🤷♂️. Great for a date night, but not flawless.
Every dish was very flavorful and did not disappoint! I’d recommend this place for those who are interested in trying Vietnamese dishes with a modern twist!

Excellent experience from top to bottom every single time. Truly what I would consider the best restaurant in Chicago. In a city that is steak, potatoes, and beer dominant, Le Colonial is a breath of fresh air. I have been around 5 times now, for lunch as well as dinner, and every visit the service and food have been 10/10. The crunchy spring rolls are quite literally my electric chair meal. The mocktails are divine. I am vegan and they do an incredible tofu version of both curries which are heavenly. The pickled mango beet salad is very refreshing as are the fresh rolls. The service is attentive and always friendly. The atmosphere is so warm and happy, I love the decor. I do not live in Chicago but visit about 2 times a year and visiting Le Colonial is always the night I look forward to the most.

I am a very frequent customer. I was disappointed by the lack of timely service this time. I waited forever just to get a drink ordered. It was a semi busy Sat afternoon 245 reservation but the restaurant proper was pretty empty even tho that terrace was about 85% full Many of the bus boys did not Speak english. I was surprised at the service. When I asked to see my server I was told he was on break. This has not happened in the 4 years I've been going there

We always enjoy our visits to Le Colonial in Chicago. The food and service are outstanding and the space is fun. We like the fact that you can fill up on wonderful appetizers/small plates or get excellent full plates/meals. The cocktail list is fun and exotic. Overall, a great experience, as usual.
I really like that this place is quiet and you can hear the people around you when talking
They don't pay attention to detail. When I made the reservation I indicated we were celebrating a birthday. I also reminded the girl who called to confirm the reservation. Nothing was mentioned or brought to the table for my daughter who was celebrating her birthday. I waited and waited and she brought the check and that was it. Nothing. No acknowledgement or no dessert. Very disappointing given the expensive food and drinks.
One of the best restaurants in town! The service is great and the food absolutely delicious
