Loaf Lounge is fine. their coffee is fine, their food is fine, but i don’t understand the hype. their breakfast sandwiches aren’t the “best,” but also their wait times are genuinely insane. i waited an HOUR for 2 breakfast sandwiches (one literally just egg & cheese) and that is absolutely not worth it to me for a sandwich

I came because they make the famous chocolate cake seen in The Bear. I also got their breakfast sandwich which was very good with the sautéed veggies and herby mayo that added great flavor, and the egg was perfectly runny. The hash brown was crispy and very similar to a McDonald’s hash brown. For dessert, I obviously got the cake. It was dense and rich without being overwhelming. It wasn’t overly sweet thanks to the dark chocolate. The frosting was excellent and balanced the whole thing nicely.

1st trip was this weekend. Breakfast sandwich and hash brown were both perfectly seasoned. Highly recommend. They were packed but worth the wait. If looking for a loaf to take home you might want to order that online to make sure that you are covered. This place was very good and the staff was very friendly!

Loved the food! Sat at the counter. Super busy place, tasty food and a good vibe.
Superb breakfast sandwiches! My partner and I come here Sunday mornings and always leave satisfied. They tend to run out of both seats and selection if you don't arrive early.
The chocolate cake was just OK, it's a bit dry. They add a 4% service charge here, which I didn't notice until after I paid. I know a bunch of other Chicago restaurants get away with doing this, but it's still a shady business practice.

Their creative sandwiches and friendly staff are a great addition to the neighborhood. I love the veggie and turkey sandwiches.

Sausage egg and cheese was delicious! The vibe was great but I was surprised by how busy it was. Would've loved to read a book while I drank my cappuccino but there is limited seating. Staff was fantastic and quick to get out drinks and food.
Will need to add a hash brown to my sandwich and try out the cocktails next time.

All just OK. The lattes were watery and lacked any velvety texture. The croissant was too heavy, though it had a nice crispness. The sausage was homemade but tasted like something I’d eat on a boys’ fishing trip. Does not deserve a spot on Eater’s 38 Best Restaurants in Chicago.
