Excellent neighborhood spot! The Kim-Cheese burger here is one of my favorite burgers in all of Chicago. Additionally, they have creative drinks, good NA options, and an extremely welcoming staff. HIGHLY recommend!

WE LOVE LUDLOW!!! we moved to chicago from austin almost 4 years ago and we’re looking for a dive bar that reminded us of home but with the chicago feel too. this is the spot my now husband and I went for date night, wedding planning, and our welcome party for our wedding weekend! The staff is amazing and they were so kind to hold an area for the welcome party AND let us do karaoke—it was my dream celebration with friends and family! The food and drinks are incredible and they have all the options for gluten free, vegan, and NA, so all our guests felt so at home too! Thank you ludlow for being a part of our love story, i’m sure we will be there for a burger and high life this week!

The burger was completely burned and the bun completely hard. The bartender was very nice, but the guy who served the food seemed annoyed we were there and sorta threw the food down without a word and left.

Got the Ludlow smash burger double patty. Great burger, wish it was a little bigger. The ambiance was great. Eclectic with interesting and random decor and lighting. Stumbled upon trivia night which are on Tuesdays.
Overall, great value for the money. Me and a friend had two cocktails each, two burgers, and their shareable fries for under $60 including tip. Def will be returning.

??? Very confused about why people talk so highly about the food here. Everything we got was not good at all and the portions were tiny for the price. We carried out (and when I say carried out we opened it and soon as we got outside, we just didn't have our IDs to eat inside) smash burger and the katsu sando. The burger was a very meh standard smash burger with nothing special (way worse quality than Red Hot Ranch) for like $14 and the chicken sandwich was just completely dry and flavorless. It was literally just some dry not-crispy fried chicken with some vegetables smacked on bread with no sauce. These 2 things cost us $30. I really, really don't get it.

I went here for a birthday party a few weeks ago and loved it. the atmosphere was great, the drinks and food were perfect. I also found there is a knife sharpening and knives for sale in the bar which was unexpected. I dropped off my knives which are 25 years old and they were returned razor sharp. I will definitely be back to get food, drink beer and have my knives serviced.

Srsly, as a gen x I’ll admit that I’m getting close to old man territory but is this a bar or a Starbucks? Asked for a Sportmans cocktail, literally created by the restaurant group behind this bar, and was lectured about how they had it when they opened but couldn’t make it. They made it sound like they opened in the olden days and I know I had it before the latest rotation of recipe card bartenders and during my last visit within the last 6 months or so. I would take photos of every ingredient needed for the drink on the bar but that would be too obvious. Ultimately it made me reticent to even ask for something that wasn’t explicitly listed on the bar menu which is a shame. Guess I’m better off making my drinks at home where if I or one of my guests want something I’ve never made before it’s worth the quick, have you heard of it, google search, to learn how to make it. Aside from that, in a blandly corporate (oddly given the venue) way, the bartender was pleasant and gracious.
Finally made it over to Ludlow to try the cheesesteak and it did not disappoint. It was so delicious and flavorful, the bread was incredible and the cheese was perfect. You could tell the meat was quality, and so lean and light, not at all heavy like some cheesesteaks can be. The onion rings were also delicious, and the drinks tasty as always. Looking forward to going back again soon and trying some other items on the food menu.
