If you haven’t been to Macello yet, you’re seriously missing out. This little hidden gem is SO good. The restaurant itself is so warm and inviting inside, and they also have a nice patio if you’re into that, too. We went a little before dinner time and got seated right away, but you can make a reservation too just to be safe!
The service was awesome—everyone was really friendly, and our server gave us a few great recommendations that really helped since it was so hard to choose—because it all sounded so good!
We ordered ‘family style’ so we could share. We got two pastas, a salad, pizza, and the bread, of course. It was the perfect amount of food for the four of us! We split a bottle of wine too, which just made the whole meal feel extra nice. A few of us had cocktails and they were all amazing.
Highly recommend checking this place out. I honestly don’t think you’ll regret it!

Overall, this was a good experience! We only stopped here for drinks, which were very, very good. However, the service was not very fast. We found ourselves needing to wave down another waiter to get our second round of drinks and close out our check.

We had been here a few years back and LOVED it. Decided to go for our 39th wedding anniversary dinner with our kids. Waiter asked if we wanted bread, so we said yes. Did not find out that he charged us $9 for the bread and then on his own added an extra order for another $4. Never told us that just did it. We thought we were just getting a basket of bread like any others at most restaurants. Ordered, among other things, the stuffed mussels as one appetizer. They brought out the regular mussels and we had to chase the waiter down to let him know and asked him to take it back. He apologized and said he would take care of it and to keep the other mussels too. When he never brought the correct appetizer my husband again had to go find him and ask about it, and he apologized and said he thought we didn't want it despite us not saying anything to that effect. In the end he charged us for all of it. On top of that the food, other than the pistachio pasta was just average. The braciole was dry and not real tender. For the price the food was not great and it was not great to be charged for items we did not know we would be charged for and for an item the waiter said he would take care of. Disappointing for sure.
Very authentic Italian food with homemade pasta. Love the shrimp pomodorini.

Unbelievable that Macello's continues to remain under the radar. The homemade pastas are fabulous, fat juicy shrimp are amazing! Good wine list, excellent Hugo Spritz! And the staff is always terrific.
Forgot how awesome this spot is. With so many places opening up we sometimes forget the ones that have really performed and survived ... Marcello is a gem. I hope they stick around a long long time.
Overall was good, Pistachio pasta highly recommended, when I booked mu reservation I mentioned that was celebrating my birthday but didn't receive any dessert for that, thats an extra that could make the experience much better.
Excellent food and great service, our server Marvin was amazing make sure if you come ask for him!!

this is quite literally the most underrated spot in chicago!!! genuinely such amazing food, great service, yall truly deserve the world!
Great atmosphere, great service, great flavorful food but they committed (2) Italian sins First sin “what no bread?” Second sin small French style portions. It's an Italian joint with a French mentality on portions, not a fan of that but you may think different so give them a chance. Ask for the server Remy he was awesome! Would go back if in the area but not a go out of your way to eat there kind of place for us. Beats any Italian joint on “Famous” Taylor Street.
An amazing little hideaway Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is authentic with a great food and drink menu that won't break the bank. The outside terrace is a great way to spend a warm afternoon. A Canadian review *
