A mixed bag. They sometimes have pretty incredible baked goods, but their selection is limited and always changing so it's a bit of a crapshoot whether they'll have worthwhile stuff available on any given visit. The two main things they always have on hand are cupcakes and banana pudding. I have a banana allergy and so cannot comment on the pudding, but the cupcakes I'd flat-out advise against getting. Magnolia's buttercream frosting is extremely one-note and overly sweet, to the point of being almost repulsive. I simply cannot eat the things without scraping most of the frosting off and into the trash. (Cake slices here are more edible simply because of the better cake-to-frosting ratio.)

It's so so so so so delicious!!I think it's the most delicious thing I ate in Chicago Banana pudding in size S is not enough, so be sure to get size M or larger!!It's so delicious that you'll be impressed after taking one bite and won't get sick of it even if you keep eating it.It was moderately sweet, moist, soft, and so delicious? The staff were also friendly~~

Do we even need a review to justify how awesome Magnolia is? The famous banana pudding has me a part of its fan base. I love how they also bring in seasonal variations to the pudding. Recently, I've noticed that the puddings are a bit on the drier side, meaning that the cookie to filling ratio is slightly off. Is that just me or did they change the proportions? Regardless, it's still very delicious. Their items are underrated. They have great cupcakes and pastries too. Special shoutout to Caramel and Devil's food cupcakes. The coffee is average in my opinion. The service is just counter service, you have to go and collect your food and beverages from the counter once they call out your name. The ambience definitely needs attention. I see chipped paints on walls, flooring missing on some areas and just overall untidiness. This is an iconic bakery and I think its ambience needs equal attention.

A bakery originally from New York City that also has a location in Chicago. The banana pudding was delicious and the bakery even sells cupcakes and packaged cookies too.

It’s good! I don’t think it’s any better than other banana pudding I’ve had but the pudding is just sweet enough and has a balanced amount of bananas and wafers. A great introduction to those who haven’t had banana pudding before.

I use to come here a lot for banana pudding but have not been in a while a lot has changed with up keep of the inside. Last two times I stopped by the inside smelled like pee. Not sure if it’s the building or what and floor was stickie. I took my order to go but couldn’t help but be reminded of the smell inside. Reluctant to go out my way to come here(╯°□°)╯

Disappointing experience overall. The inside is dirty. The lightbulbs don't match and are turned down making the inside dim. The floor, counters, tables, and checkout were filthy (old food left, crumbs, wrappers). The staff appeared put off when ordering. No one said hello. All of the food items were very warm. The banana pudding was room temp (perhaps it is meant to be, but not appetizing).
