I’ve been to this place a few times, food is decent but service really sucks! Evertime we’ve come here no waitress/waiter comes to our table without one of us asking will someone take our order, I do hope it improves, otherwise we’re taking our business somewhere else where service is better.Reply to Manjares:For some reason I’m unable to reply to Manjares comment so I edited to be a little more specific. We got there, waited for a table, once they sat us down, no waiter/waitress came by our table, we finally decided to go to the front cashier and asked her if someone was going to take our order, finally I don’t know her name but the waitress came and asked us what we wanted to drink, but because we already know it takes them a long time to check up on the tables so we decided to go ahead and place our order. We were served our food, as usual no one came by to check up if everything was fine, I wanted more lime because the 3 pieces of lime we got were dried and not enough for 4 people, I waved a gentleman and asked him for it, once he brought it, then the lady who took our order came and asked us if we needed anything. I do hope the service improves, I can’t and won’t recommend this restaurant to others unless service improves.

Waited too long for our waitress to acknowledge us. Then we place our drink order and wait some more. When she finally came back, she comes back with only one drink (there’s only two of us at our table). So I wait some more. I was really looking forward to the Caldo de Res but was disappointed in the lack of flavor and also how tough the meat was. Flautas were also ordered and those were good.

Manjares is definitely authentic chicago Mexican food. You get HUGE portions, and it's really good quality. I say Chicago Mexican bc each major city has their own regional way, and for chicago style, Manjares is really good. Of course, it's not cuisine, but it is good and plentiful. If you want authentic home cooked, this is the spot.

As soon as you enter, the first thing that strikes you is how loud the music is. Of the food, the best is the sauce, and the worst...everything else. All tasteless. Reheated fajitas, the meat dry and flavorless, the guacamole without salt, without jalapeño, without lime...without flavor. The tortillas were homemade...and tasteless. And worst of all: the huge margaritas are not cheap, and they have no alcohol at all (literally, 24oz each margarita, and at least the ones they gave me had as much alcohol as an orange fanta). On top of that, they charge you 3% for using a credit card and on top of that, not only do they not tell you, but they try to hide it.

The food is good but I’m not rating them anything good, 2 stars is me being generous. It is ridiculous that for a party of 6 you guys did a 49$ gratuity tip charge I shouldn’t be tipping the waiter what she wants people should be leaving tips as the amount they please and what the waiter deserves based on her service which our waiter didn’t even do much of a great job especially when in need of stuff they are nowhere to be.

They service and my wait time for my food was horrible I WOULD NEVER COME BACK I came with my family which is biracial , and they took longer to bring our appetizer and food family felt
I just went last month and great service just went again today and no chips or salsa were given and last time they did. We asked the girl and she said we charge for them ? Why! That’s always free in Mexican restaurant’s. Than i ordered cecina which it was so good last time and this time was beyond salty. My husband ordered a dinner taco and again last visit was given frijoles de la olla and this time just refried beans and the carne asada was no flaco at all and burnt.We’ll never again it’s already pricey and they want to charge for chips and salsa.Plus the waitress today was horrible but last visit the little old man greeted us great.But welll Never again.Drove 35 min for a bad experience.
