My lady friend and I were looking for a last-minute Italian spot for dinner, and after asking Grok AI for suggestions, Mario’s Table came up as the top recommendation. We decided to check it out—and we’re so glad we did!
The hostess was welcoming, and we were seated right away. The restaurant had a cozy, dimly lit atmosphere with a nice mix of guests, creating a relaxed and inviting vibe.
I ordered the multi-cheese lasagna with meat sauce, which was absolutely amazing—rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. We finished with an apple pie and ice cream that was the perfect sweet ending.
The owner, Mario, even stopped by our table to check in and chat for a moment, which made the experience feel even more personal. Overall, we had a wonderful dinner and will definitely be coming back!

Amazing food and drinks, great service—love Mario’s! Melissa the GM was literally the epitome of great service. Dante and Paul behind the bar made the best drinks, specifically Paul’s cosmo. We will be back again and again!

Sat outside on a lovely Chicago evening and had tremendous service and an fantastic meal. Mario's take on jambalaya was extra smokey, marinara-ish and a surprising success in re-making an old favorite. I'll be back.

Our favorite neighborhood restaurant! Service is excellent and food always hits the spot. Familiar with an old school 90s feel. They make the best vodka cranberry I’ve ever had. Short glass. Not too much cran ;) We come here at least twice a month. The outdoor seating is lovely as well. They’re open late. We LOVE the *chicken Marsala*, Caesar salad, French onion soup (seasonal), angel hair with marinara, traditional chicken parm and bow tie pasta. Feel so lucky to have a place like this just around the corner!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Mario’s Table! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with the comforting aroma of authentic Italian cuisine, fresh herbs, rich sauces, and that unmistakable scent of garlic bread hot from the oven. Each dish we ordered was absolutely delightful; the homemade caccio pepe was smothered in butter and love, and the tiramisu and affogato were the perfect sweet finishes.
What truly set Mario’s apart, though, was the incredible kindness and respect shown by our server. It was evident a customer who walked in had an intellectual disability, and it was heartwarming to see how patiently and thoughtfully the server and hostess interacted with them. They took extra time to explain the menu options, spoke directly and warmly, and made sure the customer felt included and valued throughout the meal. They even helped him calculate how much he had for his meal and said Happy 4th of July as many times as he needed before leaving.
Dining at Mario’s was more than just enjoying outstanding Italian food, it was an experience that reminded us how compassionate service can make all the difference. We left with full stomachs and full hearts. Highly recommend!

Wow. What an amazing place. So glad to find a somewhat old school Italian joint without all the glitz and glamour and 'showy' spaces you have now a days. Just good people and good food.
Came across this joint by accident. As we entered right off the bat, I liked the feeling. The wait staff (God she looked like an angel) was just so sweet, polite and did not mind that we were 45 minutes early for our reservation. She accommodated us with a smile. The gentleman that took us to our table too was just so nice and lively.
Our server was really the sweetest. Very patient, not rushing us at all and took great care of us.
We had the special beet salad which was great. We also ordered a vegetarian pizza to share. Really liked their sauce; not super tart yet not too sweet. It had just the right balance. What was amazing was the crust; Mamma Mia; I LOVED it. The crispness without it being a hard cracker was just right. Wonderful.
The only thing that disappointed both of us (and sadly has resulted in our decision to not visit here again) was the fact that the owner practically ignored us (please, don't get me wrong. We don't seek attention but we also don't seek to be 'othered' out). The gentleman came to every table, greeted the guests, had a brief chat with all of them. He came next to our table, noticed us but ignored us completely. Normally this would not have felt a big deal at all. Owners come out once in a while and speak to certain guests (either they know them, etc.) but just felt very uncomfortable here that every table had the courtesy; not just one or two. Yet we felt singled out by not given the same courtesy. I'm from the service/hospitality industry so maybe am thinking too hard about this but there you have it.
Had it not been for this experience, I would have said this is probably going to be my go to Italian restaurant in Chicago; that's how much I loved the service, friendliness of the staff, the food and the old school vibe.

We were just in Italy for a week and OMG, the food is to die for. We went to Chicago to visit family and had to dine at Mario's Table as we have been here several times prior. It is as close to Italy as you can get with the family always on hand to sit you, ask how the food was and to make sure your experience is amazing.
Love their calamari (combo- sautéed and fried) and thin crust pizzas to start. You can't go wrong with the chicken parm (grilled), homemade pastas and desserts. Wine list is very reasonable, most bottles around $60. Service is excellent.
There is outdoor seating, however the charm is eating indoors. Nice full-service bar if you want to come early and enjoy a cocktail. Make reservations in advance for the weekends.
Overall, amazing Italian restaurant with authentic food and decent prices.

Went to Mario’s Table to celebrate a birthday and wedding anniversary with my wife and 3 year old son. We traveled to Chicago from Louisville to celebrate. Moral of the story: NOT A KID FRIENDLY RESTAURANT. Felt unwelcome from the moment we walked in where a sign greeted us “children are welcome at Mario’s….however they must be seated at all times and we can no longer accept or store strollers”. Upon checking in, of course we had to take our son out of the stroller and sit him at the table - that is when one of the employees made the comment “we will make an exception just this one time and keep an eye on your stroller while it is parked up front”. Appreciate this, but the restaurant seemed very inconvenienced by this and made us feel like we should have known strollers weren’t allowed. Food was good, but the overall vibe and lack of customer service to accommodate our son rubbed us the wrong way. We felt like we annoyed the staff by just being present, and to me, that is not a restaurant I like to support. Maybe the sign on the front door should NOT say “children are welcome at Mario’s…”?

Mario’s Table is a wonderful neighborhood spot for cozy a date night or family dinner. The staff are all so attentive and accommodating and they went above and beyond to ensure our group had an enjoyable evening. Mario, the owner, was so welcoming and greeted us upon arrival and checked in throughout our meal. Jeff, our server, was awesome— very knowledgeable and helpful! We enjoyed everything we tried on the menu.
