We are now referring to Mario's as the RAO's of Chicago. It is a warm, cozy, family joint. Mario's staff has been there forever and LOVE their customers. Raphael, Melissa, Jeff, Dante and chef Rocco combine to make it our favorite dining experience in Chicago. We have NEVER had a bad meal . Everything is old fashioned Nonna's Sunday dinner quality. This place is truly special. Their calamari and marinara are wonderful. Piccata's, Marsalas, Parmagianas, Lasagnas. All delicious. Ivan and Susan

We were told to leave despite never being advised there was a 90 min max. We were 4 and had 4 courses plus drinks. We had brought friends and have been customers there for 30 yrs. We will not go back. We will miss you, Karen.

We came here a couple of years ago and had an amazing meal. Came back tonight and it's still great. We didn't have a reservation but were seated quickly. Our wine, a Chianti, was tasty, as was the calamari appetizer. We skipped salad, but other tables had them and they looked great. Had the pasta Diavola on the server's rec. it was piping hot and delicious with lots of seafood. Hubby had a chicken piccata and it looked amazing. (I am terrified that there's a 2-piece chicken option cause that thing was huge!). He reported it tasty. The salted caramel affogato was as delicious as it was 2 years ago - our server then recommended it and I am forever in his debt. The place got a little noisy toward the end of our meal, but everyone was clearly having a good time and enjoying their meals. Our server, Christian, struck the perfect balance between being attentive and not rushing us. Highly recommended.

Veal piccata with asparagus instead of pasta was really, really good. Absolutely impossible to hear what table mates were saying. Was dining with friends we had not seen in many months. So it was very disconcerting not to be able to have a conversation with them. Restaurant really needs to address the acoustics.

This is definitely the neighborhood place where “everyone knows your name”. And who would have thought that the best onion soup in Chicago is at the best Italian restaurant in Chicago?

This is my favorite Italian Restaurant when I visit Chicago! I have been dining here for a couple of decades. The food is delicious, and it’s a great “ family” experience! I met Mario on my last visit…

Service was terrific from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. Our waitress was fabulous and it's always a pleasure when the owner- Mario introduces himself. What a gentleman. Our new favorite place.

The absolutely most welcoming place I've been in a very long time. Delicious espresso martinis too!

mario's is in my neighborhood and is lovely, always crowded but always friendly. The staff is wonderful . Management, host , bar staff and table staff are professional but always there to help. The food is delicious . One of the Biggest testimonials to Mario's is how comfortable it is to walk in and have dinner or drinks solo. I am so pleased that it in my neighborhood . i should also mention how lovely it is sitting outside .

The neighborhood spot I've been looking for...ordered French onion soup, Caesar Salad, Margherita Pizza, tortellini jambalaya, and chicken parm...bury me at Mario's Table mate.

I've been to Mario's table a few times and it is always an amazing night when I go there. It's one of the few places downtown that you truly get a family atmosphere. I've been lucky enough to meet Mario both times I've been here, and the owner going table to table is a true testament to the service that you get here. Easily my favorite Italian spot downtown.

Cozy little tucked-away restaurant, Old School Italian food, and prompt yet unobtrusive service. We went with our adult kids and it felt like the perfect dining experience. I would definitely go back. My eggplant parmesan was fantastic, fresh and flavorful—not heavy like it can be at some Italian restaurants. I read a few reviews that complained about the noise, but it didn't bother us at all.
