This is such a great place! The ambiance is warm and colorful, and the service was impeccable. Everything we ate was delicious - as a vegetarian, Mexican food can sometimes be a struggle, but this place not only had options available, every vegetable we had was cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend this place for a nice lunch or dinner that absolutely hits the spot.

The restaurant had a calm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were extremely kind and efficient. They checked on us multiple times and were very friendly when they stopped to chat with us.
However, the food left a lot to be desired. The salsa tasted like water, having very little kick. The chips were crusty and flavorless. I ordered the taco dinner and was disappointed to find the meat tough and overcooked. The guacamole was bland and under seasoned. The rice was crisp and lacking any spices to give it warmth and flavor. The beans were dry and pale. The churros I had for dessert were soggy and tasteless. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the cost of the meal at the end! Almost $50 for three small items. This place is not worth your money!

Delicious. Great service. If I have a complaint it would be that their tables should be farther apart.
*update: Went again tonight. The Bistec Mexicana was no longer on the menu, but the waitress said the chefs can still do it if you give them a minute. I was happy to oblige as this is far and away my favorite dish of theirs. And as always, it was delicious. Great job!
p.s. queso fundido was great as well. Nice warm flour tortillas and a little chorizo underneath. Fantastic.

Just had an amazing brunch here! The chilaquiles were legit: the salsa verde was on point, nice and tangy. I made it epic with a side of their chorizo and mixed it, it was hot, yo! Really friendly service, great experience overall.

Authentic Mexican food, creative margaritas, nice patio, and friendly service. Highly recommend checking this place out. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Edgewater!

A nicer Mexican place. I'd say a little more pricey, but in the end without alcohol the price is reasonable. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was fresh and tasty.

The enchiladas and margaritas are delicious, and the people are very friendly. But I'm only giving four stars because of the outrageous price — three enchilada plates, a small bowl of guacamole, chips and salsa, and one margarita for $150 (including tip and tax)! They've raised their prices, so three enchiladas with standard rice and refried beans are $23 ($25 with mole). Yikes! It's very good food, but not really worth that much money. The prices have gotten out of hand, and I'm not sure I'll be going back.

They have a guy guarding me every time I go in there. As if I'm not going to pay. it's pretty rude and stupid. The food quality isn't all that and the price is too high

Hands down the best restaurant in the Edgewater/Andersonville area if you value quality food, excellent service, and a comfortable atmosphere.

Overpriced food. Not worth it.
We had a very bad experience with the older lady at the front of house who I presume is one of the owners. She had us wait 25 mins for our reservation only to seat us at a table that was open the entire time. She was also very rude to use when we asked for an update after 15 mins. Plus the food is egregiously overpriced, the cheapest item on the dinner menu is $23. So it didn’t feel good to line the pockets of someone so unprofessional and ungrateful for their customers. There are a thousand better Mexican places to go to in Chicago for half the price.

Mas Alla del Sol is a lovely neighborhood spot with incredible food and an even better waitstaff. We've gone through almost the whole menu at this point and have been overjoyed with everything coming out of the kitchen. We feel so lucky to have such a great place so close to home and especially one so kid-friendly! Also..."Nachos" might seem misleadingly simple but these are undeniably one of the stars of the appetizers - individually loaded and soooo good!
Kid-friendliness: We love bringing out three kids here! Everyone is so welcoming and kind and we've been grateful to have found such a great family place.

This is a great spot for a Mexican fine dining. The margarita flight is a must have, but all cocktails were excellent. My favorite Mexican dish is tampiqueña and they make one of the best I’ve had. The steak is seasoned perfectly. The refried beans are unassuming but wow, so full of flavor. The homemade salsa is spectacular and the Borracho Beans are just fantastic. This is a very special spot with just top tier food.
