Grew up right down the block from this building and it amazes me how much this restaurant has impacted the neighborhood. I adore Mott st for many reasons but the food is definitely a major factor. Mott st is an Asian American restaurant that pairs eastern cooking techniques with Chicago ingredients to create umami laden flavors. Some of my top dishes that I never think twice about is definitely the Mott burger, stuffed cabbage, Korean mussels hot pot, everything wings and mango sticky rice! The burger is to die for! From the textures to the flavors is absolutely insane. Love getting the wings because they pair them with tzatziki instead of ranch which is brilliant. Mussels hot pot truly hits home and pairing it with the garlic fried rice or shrimp noodles is a bonus. I’ve also paired the mussels before with the stuffed cabbage which also blew my mind.Stuffed cabbage on its own is absolutely bananas. The pan seared kimchi and braised pork shoulder complements the kimchi broth so well yet emphasizes the crispy rice. Definitely a dish I will never get tired of.Somehow I always manage to devour 5-8 dishes and still have room for dessert. We decided to order all 3 desserts since they never disappoint. I was so happy when I saw that they brought back the mango sticky rice!!! I swear by this dessert, reminds me of my childhood it’s so nostalgic and tasty. Chocolate Bundt cake with pickled kumquats was delicious and warm ricotta donuts were so good with a berry jam dip.Mott st is a restaurant I never miss to mention to my friends. Truly a gem in wicker park.Parking: Mott st offers a small parking spot but it’s only five spaces so if there’s none available street parking is basically your only option.Kid-friendliness: Saw a few kids as I was dining and seemed to be enjoying the food as well.Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor no stairs extremely easy to maneuver with a wheelchair.

Blown away by every dish. Great balance, fantastic coursing and every bite leaves you wanting more. Ordered a side of garlic rice to soak up leftover sauce from all of these dishes. You're welcome.

Mott St. always makes its way into the conversation when classic Chicago burgers are discussed. I finally made the obligatory visit, and left disappointed. If you like to drink movie theater popcorn butter, you may leave here more satisfied than I was. Alas, that’s not my personal preference so I left a little nauseous. We ordered the burger, accompanied by Everything Wings, Brussels Sprouts, and Wok Gai Lan.The brussels came first, and there it was, my first taste of that movie theater popcorn butter I mentioned above. It was so overpowering and ever crevice between the leaves felt like it was holding enough oil to take a Hummer cross country. The Wok Gai Lan was next and was the highlight of the meal. The sauce was great and I regretted not ordering rice to soak it up.The penultimate dish was the Everything Wing. These were not tossed in their sauce but rather set atop it. While the concept was intriguing, I probably could’ve guessed an Asian style sauce, everything bagel seasoning, and tsaziki don’t quite mix.By this point, I was worried about the final boss, the acclaimed burger. We ordered one to share. After cutting it down the middle I prepared to take that first bite. Hopefully, I raised the fork with the perfect bite arranged on it. All hope was lost after that bite. While I enjoyed the texture of the crispy sweet potato bits, I was once again fighting that overpowering popcorn butter flavor that now seems synonymous with Mott St.Overall, a substandard meal with a few bright spots along the way.

Came in for brunch and sat at the bar. Got the steak and eggs and a pork belly Benedict. The steaks and eggs was very good(great sauce and steaks!) but the pork belly Benedict was not very flavorful and just a very wet plate of food.

I'm hard of hearing so I knocked off three stars for how insufferably loud this restaurant is. But when I gear myself up to go because everyone else wants to go I just get drunk off the excellent cocktails, so that's your two stars.

Great atmosphere and service. However, I don't understand the food hype. I ordered the oyster mushrooms, garlic fried rice, and the "stuffed" cabbage. Mushrooms were overcooked and all I could taste was butter from the sauce. The garlic fried rice eggs were overcooked as well as the garlic, very bland and unenjoyable. The "stuffed" cabbage as I was told was more of a lasagna. Mine was more like a light stew. All I could taste was the meat, hint of kimchi flavors at best. I asked at the end do most people come here to eat or drink. Drinks here are great imo, but I was told it was mostly an eating joint and its on the Bib Gourmand list. Respectfully, I was shocked to hear, and I don't think the food deserves that. I know, how arrogant of myself to think I know more than Michelin, but I can't understand. I did come right at doors open, maybe that had something to do with it. I don't leave reviews often, but I felt this deserved honesty for the public. Too much hype and high prices for what you get.Update 3/20: Came back and got the steak and butterfish. FYI the butterfish is served with perilla leaves and served in a way where you're expected to make your own tacos/wraps with the leaves. I stand by what I said, overhyped/overrated. Won't be back for food. Fish was good, strong miso broth flavors. Steak was good, strong sweet galbi sauce flavors. Got the mushrooms again, strong butter sauce flavors and overcooked shrooms again. While these flavors were strong, they overpower the proteins/main element. Portions are especially small. Out the door $100 with tip and we felt like the cost was not justified.

I just wanted to put it out there are a few things I found 'weird' about this restaurant. First of all, you have to order all your food up front. So, if you under order or see something at another table that looks interesting halfway through the meal, tough luck? The other thing that is a bit bothersome is the burger issue. This restaurant stops serving what could be argued their best menu item at 7:00. Is it just me or is that is like having Patrick Mahomes on your roster but instead make the decision to play Ian Book while your 7 points down with 2 min to go in the 4th quarter. Also, I don't get the loud music. I realize it is done in many restaurants in an attempt to be 'hip' but I have never found it useful. Let's be honest, have you ever been to a restaurant and wondered 'hey that dance track is so dope I wish they would blast it to the point where I would have a hard time conversing with my date' ...nope. I will say that a few of our menu items were good like the cauliflower, brussels sprouts, spring rolls and the skirt steak but everything else (udon, fire chicken, tofu, garlic rice, and wontons) were rather forgettable. For me, the biggest disappointment was the lack luster service. For the prices they are asking I would have expected more. For starters, our dishes came out in rapid fire without any regard to how room on the table and how fast or not fast we were eating. Plus, with several tapas style dishes hitting our plates it would have been nice to have fresh plates swapped out occasionally. I had to flag down our waitress to ask for more. With table real estate being a premium, I would have liked to see waitstaff come around with water rather than leave a giant carafe on our table. Lastly, two of our party of 4 didn't really like the drinks they ordered it would have been great if our waitress were to address why their drinks were still full halfway through the meal.

This is a great find. The food was amazing. We had wings (sticky and spicy), an excellent burger and the fire chicken. Everything is served as it comes out of the kitchen and you can only get the burger until 7pm. Go early ! Wonderful experience in all regards

I loveee their Mott burger! I went back twice for them. I didn't love the 3 layers dip, the toasts were too hard. Friendly service and a nice upbeat ambiance I wish they have fries but that's just me being basic.

Haven't been here in years and was very excited to come back. Food was very good and served was very nice. However it was an extremely rushed experience and basically felt like a fast food experience. We ordered 4-5 items and got everything and paid our check within 45 minutes. My husband didn't even get a chance to order a second beer. Our total time there was 1 hour. That doesn't feel like a dinner experience out, especially for $130.
