I have eaten here several times in the past and the food is usually great. I’m not sure if they have a new cook but the Cajun chicken pasta was terrible. You could smell the seasoning. Otherwise, it’s a pretty good place to eat.

Cool pub that draws an after work crowd. Can be noisy but a seat at the bar is a good place to be. Excellent waffle fries 😃.

I’ve been to this place three different times, all on weekends, all during normal daytime/afternoon hours—and every single time they’ve told me only the late-night bar menu is available. Doesn’t matter if it’s mid-afternoon, early evening, or Sunday at 4 PM. Same excuse. Same limited, fried-only food.

The Shepherd’s Pie is clearly advertised and is the only reason I kept giving this place another chance. And yet, it has never once been available. Not sold out. Not limited. Just not real, apparently. At this point, it feels like straight-up false advertising to get people in the door.

What you can get? Buckets of fried food and basic trashy bar items. That’s it. No Irish comfort food. No real kitchen menu. Just grease.

If you’re coming here for what they promote online or on their menu, don’t bother. They don’t serve it—apparently ever.

The food was 5/10 when it came to taste and 4/10 when it came to price. I paid $80 but the food tasted like it something that’s worth $50. I don’t mind paying a high price whenever the food is good but the burger was below average. I would like to add that this we takeout not dine in. Maybe I’ll come back and give a different review if we dine in.

Stopped by O’Callaghan’s on a Tuesday night, and the place was absolutely buzzing! Even on a weeknight, there was a lively crowd, but it never felt overwhelming. I grabbed a pint of Guinness—perfectly poured, nice creamy head, and just the right temperature. Decided to chase it with a shot of Malört (when in Chicago, right?), and it was exactly as memorable as promised.

The staff were super friendly and quick to check in, making sure everyone had what they needed without hovering. Prices were really reasonable for downtown, which was a pleasant surprise.

The bar itself was clean, with that classic Irish pub vibe—lots of dark wood, comfortable seating, and everything felt well-kept. Despite the crowd, it wasn’t too loud to hold a conversation, which I appreciated.

Overall, O’Callaghan’s is a fantastic spot for a casual night out with friends or just grabbing a drink solo. Would definitely come back!

Decent Guinness pour but why do bars feel the need to blast music at max volume?

Then people are yelling over the music and it’s compounded obnoxiousness. (Says in best “get off my lawn” voice)
