I was a steady customer but will not be returning to this establishment again. Today I asked to sit in a booth and James, the owner said "We're too busy to sit one person in a "big" booth. (I was the only one waiting for a table.) So the waitress wanted me to sit at a table. The "big" booth seats 4. The table they wanted me to sit at also seats 4. The only difference is the booth doesn't hurt my back like the hard chairs do. I'm dying of cancer, which James is aware of, I have enough pain I don't need any more by sitting on hard chairs. Well he won't have to worry about being so "busy" to let someone have some comfort he's got one less patron. I'm done with this place.

A strong diner atmosphere and absolutely delicious breakfast and lunch. Occasionally they have a kids eat free special. They also have the nicest staff.(kids love all the decorations)
I have loved Alps for a long time. The staff has always been fantastic, the food good, and the environment clean and inviting. And then Bob took his hard earned retirement, and the person who now runs this restaurant has put profit above all, is a very poor manager, treats his staff disrespectfully, and is generally awkward and vaguely unpleasant to deal with. The staff have either been fired or quit until there are very few people who can cook the food or staff the front with any kind of competency. Why? Because the manager-owner keeps firing them when he throws a temper tantrum. I've come here for years and I mostly keep coming for the staff. Now that most of them are leaving, I probably will, too. My stars are for the staff.
