I had the worst food poisoning in the whole year after eating the small seafood combo and I rarely have stomachache.

Great szechuan restaurant tucked away off to the side of Chinatown Proper. Came here on a whim for dinner but asked around and heard good things about this place. When you enter, you'll be greeted by a clean, fairly large and spacious looking restaurant. It wasn't super busy when we arrived here, although it was nearing 9PM, which is probably why. Service is friendly but I felt like it felt a little short staffed which I will also attribute to the time we got here. The food is amazing! Two MUST-HAVES include the mapo tofu ($3.95 for a normal sized portion...I thought it must be a mistake but it wasn't!) and the fried garlic pork ribs (which are HUGE). The mapo tofu has great flavor and definitely stands out to me in the top quartile of mapo tofus I have had (trust me-- I've tried a lot). The fried garlic ribs were amazing: just be sure to pile on the plentiful toppings they give you for each bite! We also tried the standard eggplant dish which had a sweet flavor to it that complimented the spiciness well. We also tried the hot spicy pot which-- as its name suggests-- was very hot and spicy. You'll find a variety of different meats in here ranging from shrimp, beef, mussels and even spam! There are also other goodies including potatoes and lotus root which add to a great variety of textures. Compared to the other dishes though, this was my least favorite. Overall, Shu Tin Xia is definitely a hidden gem and a must try if you like Szechuan food. They also have hot pot which I'd be down to try for a more comprehensive review of this place sometime.

I don't come to Chinatown restaurants for good service but this place is h-h-h-hot garbage. Took them 5 minutes to seat us... more than 15 min for a waiter to come by. When I tried to wave down a waiter, he literally made eye contact, pretended he didn't, then started playing on his phone. When I finally ordered, I asked the waiter if a dish had celery (I'm allergic). He said no. Guess what? Of course it came out with celery. It also came out in less than 5 minutes, with the dish lukewarm. How does that happen? I couldn't even flag down the waiter in time to complain.

I decided to try this place because of the good reviews but was shocked - in a bad way. There were only 4 tables occupied and 4 wait staff but we didn't receive any service for a good 10 minutes. One of the dishes came out cold. I was so dissatisfied that I'm now having a second dinner somewhere else.

Ordered for delivery and loved every dish. Will definitely be my go to Chinese food from now on.

I tried this place last night and it was great. I wanted hot pot but since I was alone I decided to save for for when I was with a group. I had the ox tendon in chili oil with was so flavorful. I also got the cumin lamb which was very spicy. I decided to not get rice which might have been a mistake because the heat eventually overwhelmed me.

Best hot pot place I ever go to, its every spicy and every cheap price for 6 peoples for hot pot. The bill is only about 100 bucks!!! Please to there and try!

While nestled away from the hustle and bustle of central Chinatown, Shu Tin Xia offers a quieter oasis for Szechuan and hot pot fare. They provide an extensive selection of hot pot, mala chili meet and nonspicy dishes. All of which are made with a punch of flavor and authenticity. Give them a try!

Last night me and my friend came and the food is really amazing. The service is very nice. The staff is very helpful. The menu price is reasonable. They serve Hot pot here as well. Since it's our first time here, we had a lot of questions, but our server were very nice and very patient. We enjoyed both the service and the food here!

This restaurant offer great amount of dishes. The best dishes I had was the seafood combo platter. The dish wasn't too spicy so it great for everyone taste. I would recommend the pork intestines in a pot. The last dish I had was a noodle but it was dry with sauce on top of it. The menu price is fair so I would recommend friends and family.

Shu Tin Xia is really great Chinese food off the beaten path in Chinatown in the same location where "Original Steam" used to be. All the food I've had here was fantastic. The MaPo Tofu is a must at only $3.95 and packing the electrically spicy zing of Szechuan Peppercorns. The Grilled Whole Fish is really an incredible dish both in flavor and the tableside preparation. There are even lots of choices for vegetarians here too (besides the mentioned MaPo Tofu) such as Garlic Eggplant, Pea Shoots, and Wood Ear Mushrooms.

Good food, music, and nice atmosphere. A little pricey but the quality is high. Recommend!
