Pizza is outstanding. I suggest take-out though, as the dine-in experience is pretty bleak. When we went it was oppressively hot in the restaurant, it smelled funky, the bathrooms were in disrepair, the sodas tasted off, and the interior hasn't had a nickel put into it since I'm guessing the early 1980s.

I’d give this place 6 stars if I could. My son and I split a sausage and green pepper pizza. It was excellent. The sauce is sweetish as others have noted. I thought it was great but if that’s not your thing YMMV.
But the wonderful thing was the service. For one thing, they did provide us with a lemon ice after the pizza gratis, which was very nice. But, after we’d eaten about 2/3 of the pizza, I knocked it off the table and onto the floor. I was done but that was my son’s leftovers. They baked us another small pizza, again gratis! Totally above and beyond the call! Can’t say enough about how nice it is to receive that kind of treatment! If I lived in Chicago I’d be back all the time. Special place!

The sauce is the best I have try so far. That's their key ingredient for one of the best pizzas in Chicago

The pizza itself tastes pretty good 🍕👍 but the price just doesn’t match what you get. Paying around $40 for a single pepperoni pizza—and then seeing barely any toppings is really disappointing 😕 Each slice had almost no pepperoni, which made it feel like poor value for the money. I used to be a big fan of this place ❤️, but spending close to $70 for two pizzas is just too much 💸 It’s hard to justify coming back when the portions don’t live up to the cost. Unfortunately, I’ll be looking for another spot next time.
Tried Palermo’s for the first time after seeing a lot of great reviews 😊🍕 We ordered a few different pizzas with various crusts and toppings to get a good feel for the place. As people often say, the sauce leans a bit on the sweeter side, but honestly it still tasted really good 👍 We picked both a paper-thin crust and a regular thin crust. Neither was super crispy like true tavern-style, but we ended up liking the paper-thin one more - it had a nice chewy texture 😋 The service was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better 🙌 And the complimentary lemon sorbet at the end was such a refreshing and thoughtful touch 🍋✨

My first time going, and the owner's treated me as if it was my 100th time. Sauce was sweet and perfect. I was recommended this place by a coworker, and he was spot on. The owner said I'll be back. He will be right.
