I have to add an edit. First, the owner updated the menu and it is absolutely next level. Second, I tried their smash burger yesterday. It was beyond excellent. The flavor was incredible. It was built perfectly. You could pay twice as much and not get a better burger in the neighborhood. And it’s all made by hand. And on top of all that…and I value service over food…the service is always excellent and the atmosphere is always what I look forward to as well. They have yet to disappoint me. This is one of only two bars I go to anymore. I could not recommend more. If you haven’t already, check it out! You will be happy you took my advice.
Try the pizza! The shrimp salad is excellent too! Really good atmosphere and friendly staff who almost always just pour my “usual” as soon as I walk in. It’s a really good spot where you can meet a lot of people for interesting conversation. I very highly recommend this bar.

Tammy - may be the first person you see at the bar when you come in. She’s literally the most enjoyable bouncer I’ve ever had the privilege of interacting with. You can tell she truly runs this establishment and is essential to the energy in the room. I will be back - not only because I love this place - but because Tammy truly sold this place!

I absolutely love this place! I am a bit biased because I love parrots so much, but the service and food was amazing! I even got a free shot from the person checking ids because she noticed I have my parrot tattooed on myself :-) I plan on this being my regular spot when I make the move to Chicago!

Solid night at Parrots Bar & Grill in Lakeview—classic dive bar energy with free pool, steel‑tip darts, and that old‑school jukebox playing just right. I grabbed a smash burger, lemon‑pepper wings, and two $4.50 Coors drafts—ended up around $30. Bartenders were chill and crowd was laid‑back. Perfect low‑key spot—already planning my next round!
We were close to Belmont and were wanting to find a dive bar. This place is so warm and inviting. The bartender was so nice. Drinks were good. They even turned up the volume on Jeopardy so we could all play along. Will definitely be going back.

The most homophobic place I’ve ever been. Accidentally knocked over a graduation gift into their fake display, and the bartender ignored me for the rest of the night—worst part? He was wearing a pride shirt. Gays—skip this and go to Progress.

The owner profiled me extremely hard, saying I was off drugs and kicked me and all my friends out when we were about to leave anyway (it was St Patrick’s day weekend, had a long day out, was tired). We were literally just watching the F1 race, which was 1 lap away from ending before we were so rudely interrupted. Not as if there weren’t plenty of other tweakers, people making out and being way too touchy, and people extremely drunk all around, this man chose to profile ME for straight up chilling. My friends obviously stood up for me, after all I was paying my hard earned money for only 2 drinks. The man said my “mannerisms” were indicative that I was off drugs, when I was simply tired and trying to enjoy my night with my friends while I was in the city for a short while. After my friends had stood up for me, the owner shoved one of my friends and threw his drink all over other guests, pushing my friend into our female friend who was considerably smaller, having no regard for any of the guests whatsoever or making a scene in front of everyone (where everyone was clearly perturbed by the man’s apparent ego trip). Whoever this man is, I sincerely hope he finds God, because I wouldn’t wish what happened to me at this bar to my worst enemy. If you are truly Irish (go figure they would profile someone of Irish descent), steer clear from this bar and pray for these people, especially the deranged owner!👎🙏
