This was my favorite Pepe’s! I would come in weekly for the $2 taco special on Tuesday and Thursdays. They also have good smoothies! The workers today (07/31) told me that they are closing permanently on August 1st. I’m sad to see this location go and hopefully I can find another Pepe’s that matches the quality.

If you’re in Chicago and you haven’t yet experienced Pepe’s Mexican Restaurant, you’re truly missing out. As a long-time fan of Mexican cuisine and someone who’s ventured to countless taco stands and cantinas throughout the city, I can confidently say that Pepe’s is hands down the best in Chicago. From its welcoming ambiance to its impeccable food, this place offers an experience that goes far beyond your typical Mexican restaurant.

Walking into...

Make sure you go hungry. The portions are large and delicious. They also have good rice and some vegetables you can get the service is good and the place was clean. We did not wait more than five minutes.
