Excitement filled within me, as I was excited to try this place. I was hoping it would be worth it.\n\nA sign on the building stated PIZZERIA UNO®️ was a HISTORIC LANDMARK. It also stated it was the BIRTHPLACE OF THE ORIGINAL DEEP DISH PIZZA - 1943 - Ike Sewell invented Deep Dish Pizza in this building in 1943, which began a Deep Dish pizza revolution.\n\nMy significant other and I walked inside and were told we could sit down anywhere at the bar. I was given a menu immediately....
We went with my husband because we wanted to try traditional deep-dish pizza and eat somewhere with character. Unfortunately, the pizza was literally flavourless (a small Margherita). My husband’s pesto one was okay, but nothing special. The place itself has great character, which is the only reason I’m not rating it lower. If it were based on the pizza alone, it would be a poor+ at best. And for the prices they charge, it just isn’t justified.
Pizzeria with the typical Chicago style.\nCould even eat outside.\nThe hit was that you could also have the pizzas with half-half topping.\nSpinocolli/BBQ Chicken the absolute hit for us.\nSafe again when we get there.
