My wife, a close friend, and I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and it was an experience worth savoring. The menu showcases a creative blend of seafood, meat, and wood-fired steaks, each crafted with precision and bold flavors. The Raw & Chilled section features beautifully presented dishes like the Yellowfin Tuna Crudo and Bay Scallop Crudo—fresh, vibrant, and expertly balanced. The Seafood Platter is a must-try, offering an exquisite selection of oysters, scallop tartare, and poached blue prawns. Moving into the heartier options, the Foie Gras Steamed Buns were a decadent surprise, while the King Crab Motoyaki was indulgent yet refined. The Wood-Fired Steaks are undoubtedly a highlight, with the 10 oz American Wagyu Bavette and the impressive 32 oz Prime Porterhouse standing out for their quality and perfect execution. The Signature Sauces allow for customization, with rich options like Ssämjang Butter and Thai Jumbo Lump Crab "Oscar" adding extra layers of flavor. Even the Veggies section offers delightful choices, such as the Twice Baked Potato and Smoked Four Star Mushrooms, ensuring a well-rounded meal. Beyond the exceptional food, the atmosphere was warm yet sophisticated, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. The three of us enjoyed every moment—from the expertly crafted dishes to the inviting ambiance. It was a fantastic evening, and I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for top-tier cuisine crafted by talented chefs.
The menu has changed and while it's good to keep things fresh, I was somewhat disappointed in this new version which leans heavily Asian. Still good but not AS good. The whole fish, for example was very good but the previous version was excellent.
To kick off my husband's birthday weekend, we dined at Proxi and had a wonderful experience. The restaurant is beautiful, the service was superb, and the food was incredible. We really enjoyed the A5 Wagyu cooking experience! I think my favorite bite of the night was the tempura elotes. Really good cocktails, too.
We did the chefs menu and it was unbelievable. Every dish was a work of art and tasted beyond delicious. The service team is so gracious and friendly it made for such a great experience. The restaurant is beautiful and has a good, cool vibe to it. Love Proxi
Maybe I've been living under a rock, but I have no idea how I hadn't heard of Proxi before! We booked the chef's counter for their special Thai cuisine tasting menu, and it was absolutely amazing. Every dish was packed with flavor--delicious, balanced, and somehow both indulgent and fresh at the same time. Some standout dishes for us were the tamarind soup, Thai sausage, and the perfectly cooked sea bass. The dessert was unique, especially the frozen yuzu pie--not quite my taste, but definitely interesting. The drinks were just as impressive, though I can't remember the names. That said, I don't think you could go wrong with any choice. I love that their menu constantly evolves. Even though we had the chef's special menu, we saw dishes from the regular menu coming out of the kitchen, and they looked just as tempting. We're already planning to return to try more! The ambiance was cozy yet sophisticated--perfect for a date night, a work dinner, or a relaxed yet refined evening out. Overall, this was some of the best food I've had in Chicago, and it left me already looking forward to my next visit
Outrageously overpriced food with tiny portions and lackluster flavors. The coal roasted eggplant was decent but came with barely two tablespoons of dip and tough, chewy paratha. The baby octopus had a tasty chorizo XO sauce, but the edamame hummus was bitter, and the portion size was tiny. The tamale had exactly one good bite—the goat cheese-topped center—while the rest was utterly bland. The coal roasted chicken was tender and juicy, but any redeeming quality was ruined by the overly sweet mole. Service was lukewarm and frankly cold at times. We came for a birthday celebration and both left dissatisfied.
Absolutely fantastic! Chef made specialties and high-quality cocktails in an exquisite upscale and modern setting. We really appreciate the fantastic happy hour specials which are a great way to experience the unique culinary treats created by the chef here at a reasonable price and right after work hours..

Amazing pairing menu and Beverage Manager Alan made for us a cocktail pairing menu to enjoy with. Highly recommend chefs table. Vibe is great as you can dress up or enjoy casually this upscale menu and decor. Memorable place will go back! Hint 3 coarse pairing menu is actually a ten course tasting menu and ver reasonably priced given that.

Sat in the bar for a few drinks. Fantastic service and delicious drinks. However the bar stools are the least comfortable seats I’ve ever sat in which explains why the bar area was empty.

We went to proxy to celebrate a birthday and overall enjoyed the experience.
The space itself is contemporary and quite beautiful. There are a lot of mixing crannies to have a different kind of dining experience depending on where you're seated, which I thought was quite interesting.
The food was also quite delicious. The only dish that we were a little disappointed with was the broccolini as it was quite middle of the road. The desserts were especially successful. We tried the sundae and the cheesecake, along with a complimentary cake to celebrate the birthday. All three were quite delicious but the cheesecake was the real star. We could have inhaled an entire cake in and of itself.
Where we had a bit of a bump was with the service. The staff was quite nice and attentive but when dishes came out, depending on who you got, the dish and components that made it up would not be explained so you knew what you were eating. Everyone did tell you what was coming to the table but that was about it. At a place this nice with quite good food. We expect a little bit more from the service.
Overall though the experience was quite positive.
Vegetarian options: Well, there are quite a few veggie options. If you go here once and splurge, you'll pretty much have had everything you can get.

Would return only for the espresso martini and beef cheeks, everything else was ok
5/5 Espresso Martini - The condensed milk makes this the best I ever had, the only reason why I would go back to visit Chicago/Proxi.
3/5 Kakigori - Shaved ice drink that takes 20 mins to make as said by the server, should've reordered the espresso martini
3/5 Tempura Elotes
3/5 Banh Khot
1/5 Soft Shell Crab - this was fried and the menu didn't say it.
4/5 Banana Leaf Wrapped Bass
5/5 Za'atar Potato
4/5 Tepache Braised Pork Belly
5/5 Beef Cheek - best item we ordered
Lots of single stalled full restrooms with soap that smelled wonderful and thick paper towels, very clean
