An absolute gem! This was the first time for me eating Ethiopian and I really didn't have any idea what it would be like and I was BLOWN AWAY. The style of eating was so different taking the injera and scooping up delicious unique bites. The flavors were off the charts and it felt like I was in their home level of comfort. We were lucky to have someone who knew what to order but if you don't just trust the cook and/or your waiter/waitress. Highly highly recommend!

Amazing food! Local family business. Definitely recommend this place! We liked the previous restaurant called Ras Dashen and didn't know that the owner has changed during COVID. We were told that Ras Dashen's owner's daughter bought the restaurant from her parents and changed the name to Nebeb. The food quality hasn't changed at all. Everything is so yummy! I love vegetarian platters.

Visited here recently, this place is formerly Ras Dashen. The service and quality has diminished. We walked in waited to be seated no one around to greet customers. The person in the kitchen clearly overwhelmed by herself. A younger staff (maybe a relative) just sat in her butt versus going in back to help the person in the kitchen. The two staff were fighting amongst each other. Personally, I felt the younger staff was a bit disrespectful to the person in the kitchen. Our food came out very bland some dishes. Smaller portions versus Ras Dashen. I will probably not return and opt instead to go elsewhere for Ethiopian food. They need to get their act together. Another point that killed the experience. Dining at an Ethiopian restaurant, the music was loud merengue music? Such a weird experience.

This was my first time trying this it was Ras Dashen (no idea what history is/if same ownership or not), but the food was just as good. We tried delivery for the first time (had previously always eaten in) and everything came warm and to my recall - we had the Tilapia, the Beef skewers, Doro Wat, and the Chickpea Wat, along with what seemed like a mountain of injera. Everything was great - only complaint was that the Berbere sauce had splashed over the container walls and into the side dishes so it all tasted like the main. Prices appear high here but it's an absolute mountain of food.

So very happy that this restaurant is open! Some of the best food I've ever eaten. Apparently the daughter of the prior owners of Ras Dashen re-opened the restaurant, but under a different name - Nebeb. I can confirm that all of my favorite dishes are still there from my previous experiences at this restaurant. Additionally, they made some updates/changes to the menu, including labeling the gluten free items more clearly.

This is the best, most authentic Ethiopian food ever!!! My parents lived in Ethiopia for a few years and say that the spices and Injera are spot on! Staff is very friendly and helpful if you don’t know what to order. We come here all the time and don’t think any other Ethiopian restaurant comes close to this good. Looks are deceiving; it’s so incredibly delicious.

What a wonderfully warm, and welcoming environment. Even before I sat down, just walking in to this restaurant envelopes you with a sense of warmth and serenity. Every server, all the personnel, have a smile on their faces - even with their masks on, the smile comes through. They already had me won over with their treatment for their patrons, however, it was their food that completely bamboozled me over. The injera is soft, has that distinct sourness to it, and is pillowy soft and perfect. All the meats were unctuous, seasoned to perfection, and cooked excellently. The cabbage and the spinach were phenomenal, and the lentils were cooked well and tasted great! It was the tea that really took the cake!!!I highly highly HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to any, and every, body!

I love Ethiopian food tremendously, and have visited numerous restaurants around the country in search of delectation. This place is and has been one of my top favorites for nearly 20 years, in its previous and current iterations. It's worth the battle to find a parking spot on Broadway to enjoy this restaurant! Best of luck to the new generation keeping this place going.

This is the absolutely best Ethiopian restaurant we've tried in the Midwest and we've tried them all (Chicago, St Louis, Indianapolis, Madison). The balance of the spices, the texture of the injira, the perfectly cooked veggies, and the wonderful coffee served in a traditional Jebena -- it all comes together to make a perfect meal. We've been coming here for decades since it was called Ras Dashen and we're so glad to see that Maritu (the former owner's daughter) has taken over the operation. It looks like she is continuing the family lineage by using the same traditional family recipes that her mother passed down to her. Please carry on and don't change a thing!

Going here for years now, and it never disappoints. I love that the menu under the new management is all halal, so I can taste all the authentic dishes.

I took my nephew here for his birthday because he likes to eat with his hands :) I thought it was another Ethiopian place. I think it changed names and ownership. Anyway, it was excellent. We got the raw beef kitfo, and he loved it. I was worried a 7 year old would be grossed out but he is a very adventurous eater. It was really excellent kitfo. Great injera too. The samosas were good, not great. I'd definitely return.

Our first Ethiopian food experience, we ordered Yebeg De Beebere (lamb), Doro Wat (chicken), spinach, collard greens, all so delicious! Friendly atmosphere, great service, will definitely come back.

This is—hands-down—my favorite restaurant in all of Chicago. The staff is lovely, the ambience is welcoming, and EVERYTHING on the menu is delicious. If I had to pick, my favorite dish has to be the dupa wat (pumpkin). Whenever I’m showing guests around the city, this restaurant is one of the first that we have to visit. Thanks so much for all the amazing times, Nebeb!
