Roots is a great spot with good pizza and friendly staff. My kids love playing with the dough they give them as entertainment and try to make their own pizzas before the real pizza comes out. Have been multiple times and will go multiple more.

Very disappointed at this reservation at Ruth's have been here before service food. Everything was good. Last evening they were out of Chianti they were out of sprite. The Cabernet was from an old bottle. The Italian beef sandwich was dried out chewy meat and an Ajou that was purely beef, bouillon, salty, we will never be back
Sausage was great. Too much peppers and mushrooms in the vegetable pizza -- but, now I know ...The crust is excellent, if you are a bread lover.

Unfortunately, I have not yet had a positive experience at *this* Roots location. The pizza is good, but prices are high, and the service—whether dining in or ordering out—is also pretty bad, even over all these years. When there is so much good pizza in Chicago at other restaurants or other Roots locations, why would I eat here if only to have bad service? I also advise against ordering on their website, as the website will allow you to place an order even if they are closed (Google has incorrect open hours), so you will pay for … no pizza.

It was decent pizza, not sure if it's for sure worth the price, but it was a nice place to sit with a group of friends. The mozzarella sticks were good though, so I do recommend ordering those.

Yeah, so this place has just screwed up too many times. I'm done. In the past their app has screwed up placing my order several times. One time it placed a double order even though I only ordered once and only got one confirmation. One time it failed to submit properly so I called and cancelled my order, then the next day at 4pm a confused driver showed up at my door with the food I had tried to order the previous night. (Don't worry, they expected me to pay full price for their mess up food that I did not order).Several times over the years they've had minor issues in food ordered such as a missing ingredient, an extra ingredient, pizza cut wrong etc. In fact, it's become and inside joke of "I wonder which way our pizza will be wrong this time."To be honest, the cheese sticks are so ridiculously good that even though their pizza is average at best, the kitchen almost never gets the order right, and they force you to order through the worst app I've ever seen, I still continued to give them chance after chance after chance because that's how good the mozzarella sticks are.So today I had a long day and never got to eat dinner. I decided that those mozz sticks were exactly what I needed. I head over and arrive around 9:15pm on a saturday. They tell me the kitchen closed at 9. This is NOT posted on google, it is NOT posted online. It is a SATURDAY at that. Their hours state they close at 2am, so even if you assumed that they have randomly decided to be a bar despite being a pizza place, last call for food would surely be no earlier than midnight if they're open that late (and they're a pizza place, so the fact you cant get food for literally every moment they are open is insane).Look, if this was a one off... ok fine. But I've dined in, ordered out, sat at the bar, etc so many times over the years and cant think of a single time that everything just went well. I trusted them with the lowest expectations of "allowing me to have food at a not that late time on a saturday while they are open," AND I even checked the hours to be sure, and they STILL let me down, an insult to injury since I had to wait so late for dinner and have been hungry for hours. Theres just too many restaurants and too many pizza places in chicago to keep wasting time or money here.
Sad to see, but this place is a disaster. I know staffing is an issue, but literally every aspect was wrong. Wrong pizza toppings, poor quality, waitress never even came back to check on us. The manager came to give us a dessert, but it still doesn't make up for an entirely wasted experience and night with my family. Sadly, even though we live in the area, we won't be back.

Who goes to a most excellent pizza place and orders salad? I do! Taking nothing away from the pizza, which is excellent. The build your salad is a great treat… seemingly unlimited options for toppings and greens!Spouse had the garlic mushroom pizza!Beer list is excellent!Eddie and Michaela provided wonderful service with many smiles!!

Phenomenal pizza and experience I've ever hadReally came there for the kimchi chicken pizza
I rarely write reviews, but this dinner was so terrible I had to pop one on. The kids ordered sandwiches that they barely touched even after a full day on the water. They were dry and overcooked. The taco pizza had almost an entire bag of chips on top and a blah flavor. The music was too loud for a nearly-empty restaurant and we had to ask for water refills and the check—service was friendly, but not at all attentive. It is a cute spot that could be so much better.

Honestly, this place is way too expensive for the mediocre food they give you. when I went to pick up my own food I was asked to personally tip for the service although I came in right before the time and waited 20 minutes after the supposed time of delivery. Additionally, I don’t think there’s much variety besides some classic American staples. Truthfully, there are way better places for pizza in the entire city.

Eddie and the crew at Roots are about as good as they come. Food comes out hot and fresh, your beers never empty and you’ll leave with a smile guaranteed. Great spot!
Ordered two pizzas carry-out and when i was picking them up was asked to leave a tip...on a carry-out order. When I didn't, I got an eye roll as I left. Tipping culture is getting out of hand, what service am I tipping for on a carry-out order? If I'm not dining in or getting it delivered I'm not tipping. Don't try to guilt me into it. Decent pizza but the experience left me sour.
