Fabulous breakfast and pastries! I especially loved the three egg omelette, I got it with egg whites and the little mushrooms were so delicious.

Do they have an oven or stove? It’s giving packaged microwave and plated. Presentation 5 stars from a distance. that dark thing is potatoes btw yogurt yum the grits yum. The brisket is a southern tragedy it’s worse than what they did to Tex mex. Potatoes so damn hard I could have hit someone over the dang head.

Recommended dishes: Beignets to Go
Went for weekend brunch and was able to get seated fairly quickly. It had a comfy/farmhouse/communal vibe with the tables placed pretty closely together. There’s a high top narrow island with seating as well. There’s noise level was pretty high but not so noisy to where you couldn’t hear your party. My cousin and I went with the shrimp and grits and shared an order of beignets. The shrimp and grits were phenomenal and a nice portion. 10/10. The beignets were a 8/10 just because I visited New Orleans earlier this year and had the ones from Cafe Beignet which I enjoyed so much more. The beignets here are still soft and pillowy and I would likely order again. I saw on the menu that they have fried green tomatoes as part of a specific dish but I really wish they offered them as a side. I haven’t had fried green tomatoes in forever and I just know they would’ve paired nicely with the grits. I hope the chef/owner sees this review and consider making it a possibility! All in all, we have already said that we’ll be back so I’m looking forward to my next visit.

Very nice spot on UC campus, spacious with good cohesive decoration for the theme, southern comfort breakfast dining. A place that has both great coffee and food is a rarity indeed! Counter ordering and table service or Togo options. The grits were particularly impressive with excellent texture and flavor.

I’ve been going to Roux regularly for a few years now. The food is always good and the staff is nice and they’re fast. Efficient. I would give it 5 stars if they had stronger coffee and if the food temperature was warmer. It usually comes out room temp when I go. It could be hotter. Other than that it’s really good.

The food doesn’t need to be this good. They could probably get by with less effort, but it’s clear that the staff actually cares about quality. It’s not a bargain, but it’s worth what you pay for sure, and it’s tasty. The knock is that the coffee can only be ordered from the counter. If you want a second cup then you might be waiting in line for a long time. Definitely a stand out in Hyde Park.

Delicious food always. Very efficient. I think they should put another deviled egg for the price though.
