always a great experience, and love to come back. Great service, excellent and consistent food. Thank you team.
Excellent dining experience! The food quality and service are spot on. Service from all staff was helpful and kind. We celebrated a Birthday and the staff signed a card, served a complimentary sparkling treat along with a beautiful dessert. Thank you Perilla Fare.
Incredible all around hospitality. Great flavors in the food with a unique beverage list. Highly recommend.
My second time, after a divine first impression a year or two ago. Not the same kind of knockout this time, especially given the price point, but still very, very good. Service has been excellent both times: personable, informed and informative, good rhythm of checking in. Food is delicious. The bavette and the scallops stood out; the wagyu a little less so, but still very tasty. The lighting and visual ambience are great, and I like the location. Like most restaurants these days, but even more than average, the space is way too loud. If you want people to converse, especially across a wide Korean barbecue table, why is the music so jacked up? I understand others may not feel the same. Sonic overload (especially also with tables so close together) and slightly too-high cost are why I'm holding back from five stars. But people really ought to support this place and ita staff. I had a five-star night the first time and I bet I will again!
Food was amazing, service was impeccable and drinks were sublime! Mary was the best server we have ever had!!!
Excellent food and service! Good value, too! I've never had Korean barbecue and side dishes this good, not even in Busan!
Overall like the place. It's good no complaints all around. It's a overpriced for what you get but there is no skimping on quality. Don't like the fact they charge extra just for the side dishes and lettuce wraps which is normally standard at any Kbbq or korean restaurant. No desire to go back but wouldn't be upset if friends wanted to go again as well as would suggest to people try.
Overall great time just not worth the extra cost compared to other Korean BBQ places we know us.
Nice soap in bathroom 🧼

We have friends visiting out of town and thought to go back here especially for St. Paddy’s day Friday dinner. The food was great, service felt super rushed. Staff is borderline rude. Our server kept pushing us to either order more or get out. What a shame!

Overall I will give 1 and a half star or 1 star due to service and the food below par. It was NOT authentic Korean food. Not good place for business dinner as you may have to cook by yourself or will end up having all the meat burned. The waiter and waiteress are not attentive at all. Vegetable fried pancake called Scallion pancake is just ordinary that may be brought out as complimentary sidedishes in any Korean restaurant. LA galbi wasn't really up to par with too many fat which I had to remove. Their chef special at $75 is below par especially if you are used to traditional korean restaurant serving decent quality of meat. Pork belly in this chef special is not worthy at all. The wagyu tastes tender but not delicious. If you know real taste of A5 Wagyu, you will be disappointed. If you have NOT teasted A5 before, you may like it because you may not know what the realy A5 Wagyu tastes like. If you go to Costco website, you can order decent quality of A5 Wagyu. One thing that I like about this restaurant is their ventilization system that was built inside the grill. Plus they charge 20% tip for a party of 6 or more PLUS 5% Kitchen staff support, thereby amounting to 25% automatic tip

Perilla American Fare in Chicago delivers an outstanding dining experience with authentic Korean-style cuisine that truly impresses. From the moment you walk in, the high-quality tables and furniture set the stage for a refined yet comfortable atmosphere.
The service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and efficient. Although there was a minor mix-up with the check, the staff handled it well, ensuring it didn’t take away from the overall experience.
The food was exceptional. The scallion pancake was a standout—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The fried rice and kimchi were equally impressive, packed with bold, authentic flavors. A must-try dish is the buffalo wings, which strike a perfect balance of spicy, sweet, and sour—an unforgettable combination that elevates the meal.
Even the smaller details were well-managed. The restroom was clean and had a pleasant aroma, though it was a bit too close to the kitchen for comfort.
Overall, Perilla is absolutely worth the money. With its delicious food, top-tier service, and well-maintained ambiance, it’s hard to find anything to complain about. Highly recommended for anyone craving high-quality Korean cuisine in Chicago!

I ordered Tangsuyuk, and it was about 80% fat! I’ve ordered this same dish before and it was not like this, so I know how it should be. I had to throw it away because I couldn’t chew it—it was just a thick chunk of fat. As a Korean, I know how Tangsuyuk is supposed to be. However, the other items I ordered, like the rice cake, chicken sandwich, and fire chicken, seemed pretty good

Food is excellent, absolutely no doubt. I really enjoyed the dining experience. The cocktails were great as well. However, I will not come back for the following reason: Pricing transparency! When the check arrived I was surprised to find a "voluntary" kitchen staff fee of 5%. It was made very clear that this was only for the kitchen and not the server staff. Ok, I get that it is voluntary, but what kind of asshole asks to remove it? It's the surprise that pisses me off, if it was in giant bold letters on the menu card and when you made a reservation - fine. Because of this, and frankly because the service wasn't great, I thought to myself that I would "only" tip 15%. However, this restaurant does not use paper bills - they use the fancy new terminals which give toy suggested tip options and amazingly the only pre-set options were 20%, 22% or 25%. Sure, there was a "custom tip" option, but then you had to put in the amount and therefore do the whole second-grade math show in front of the inpatient waiter who stands there and waits for you. All in all it feels scammy to squeeze a bit more cash from the customers and guilt-tripping them into tipping at least 25%. Why can't you just raise the prices? Why all these hidden fees and borderline scam techniques to increase tips? Left a very sour feeling to an otherwise great night. Cheers mates, I'm sure you all meant well. But please just raise your prices if needed.

Food was pricey but overall good. We tried the rosé gnocchbokki which was a special and it was a delicious take on the classic tteokbokki. I feel that given the price of the meats, the unlimited banchan should come included. All the meat cuts we had were tender and flavorful. My partner and I shared the chefs tasting plate, an order of galbi, the rosé gnochbokki, and the jjampong mussels, and we were satisfied by the end.
If you’re into matcha and 21+, you need to try the cloud 9 cocktail, it was absolutely amazing.
Our waitress was wonderful and very kind. She helped us with grilling the wagyu to perfection. My partner and I came to celebrate our anniversary, and we were given a card with messages from the staff which I felt was really sweet.
If you’re looking for an upscale KBBQ place, this is it.

We ordered the Jampong Mussels, Chef’s Meat Sampler, Doeng Jang Jjgae, and Banchan.. everything tasted good. I mean it tasted as Korean food should, the meat was buttery soft and while I thought it odd to have to order banchan separately… it is unlimited, so there is that. The Jampong Mussels tasted good, but it wasn’t Jampong soup really, it was more Kimchee Jjgae broth with pork (so if you are pescatarian you might want to ask if they can omit or it may not work for you).
The cocktails were lovely though (as many people commented… ) I had a Matcha Sour, I believe it was called, so good if you like sweet cocktails and the expresso martini was fantastic.
In terms of the ambiance, it’s a nice moody sort of interior. It is dark at night, but because it is a corner restaurant it was nice to see all the night lights come through the windows. All adds to the vibe.
All in all would I recommend? If you want to have a Korean experience, but in an elevated atmosphere then yes. The food is good, but was it phenomenal? No… it wasn’t like a Benu (from SF) experience, but could be a nice date night, special occasion, or somewhere you would bring a special guest… that maybe isn’t Korean?
Honestly I think the bad reviews were from fellow Koreans, but like I said it’s very good food, just not anything new or quantity wise satisfying for the natives 🤣
Parking: I know some people recommend the garages, but I came here on a Tuesday night and there was a lot of street parking on both Kinzie and Hubbard. It was roughly $9.50 for 2 hours with Park Chicago
