I am so glad we tried Sayuri tonight for the first time tonight. The sushi is delicious and so fresh, far superior to any I have had from nearby restaurants in RP. Chef Tim obviously puts a lot of thought and care into crafting his beautiful and delicious sushi. As my daughter said, "this is definitely our new sushi place."

I was looking to try someplace different for delivery and came across Sayuri. What a treat! The fish was very fresh (some of the best I have had in Chicago) and the rolls were prepared very well! I enjoyed maguro and escolar nigiri, as well as the spicy tuna, Boston, and Mexican rolls. Delivery was quick and everything was nicely packaged. Highly recommend!

Amazing, fresh, innovative sushi. The owner and Chef Tim is lovely and puts a lot of heart into the food. The service is great as well. If you live in the area you must try, if you don’t, make the drive, it will be well worth it.

Best sushi in the Edgewater/Rogers Park area. The food is delicious and well balanced. The owner is very kind and friendly. It's my default place for good sushi.

I've been here a couple times now and both times have been great. We came here for a birthday dinner and were very happily welcomed by the waitress and chef. While they do not sell liquor they were more than inviting for us to grab some just down the road. The chef is very welcoming and the rest of the staff create a very inviting environment.
As for the food, the sushi is all fresh and the flavor profiles are really thought out. I don't eat a lot of sushi but this is my new favorite spot. It was so good that my girlfriend who doesn't like sushi had her mind changed after trying a few rolls here and we had to come back the next weekend. Our favorite roll was the spicy shrimp but I think the mexican roll has been a close second. Super refreshing and crazy how it really fuses classic mexican flavors with sushi.
In short lovely people and great food!

Very friendly and amazingly good. We arrived BEFORE opening time, door was open and we were greeted. Chef spoke to us and thanked us for coming. We were in town from Kansas and he was very gracious for our patronage. Will definitely be back when in Chicago again!

The owner and server were very friendly, and the service was warm and welcoming. However, the sushi itself was disappointing. The fish-to-rice ratio was way off, with way too much rice compared to the fish. It really overpowered the flavor of the sushi, which took away from the overall experience. With some adjustments to the portions, this place could be much better.

I have eaten at this place at least five times in the last two months. Chef Tim is a gem of a person and a gem of a chef. The dining experience is the closest I feel I’ve gotten to that of being at the Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo. You walk into this place and you feel like you’re home. The sushi is so fresh. I would honestly pay twice the price for the quality alone. Everything that Tim does is done intentionally. It is so evident that he just wants everyone to have an amazing experience when they come in. I am such a chef Tim STAN!

This was our third dinner at Sayuri, and impossibly, it was even better than the previous two. The food is fine dining in a storefront setting (although thoughtfully designed and a very pleasant atmosphere), and as a result, it is a remarkably accessible and affordable experience. Diners are greeted warmly by the chef, service is friendly, and the care taken to deliver superb food means you leave with an experience of savoring and lingering over a wonderful meal. We have had not one meal that disappointed, but the Miso soup is truly epic, and the Tsunami Maki dish is one-of-a-kind - truly delectable. I am torn between wanting to encourage the whole city to visit and wanting to keep this neighborhood gem to ourselves. Very grateful to have discovered this culinary delight.

Absolute gem, incredible find. A small sushi place with such a nice vibe. Food is incredible. Service is fast. If you drove by you would never know that such good sushi is served here. Will most definitely be telling friends about this place and for sure will be returning.

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL RAMEN
I wonder if this is the same location everyone is raving about. First I walk into the restaurant and there are only two tables in a really small area. Then, I ordered a sushi and tonkatsu ramen. I’ve had many sushi and tonkatsu ramen over the years including in Japan. This was easily the worst tonkatau ramen that I ever had. The pork was burned and salty and difficult to chew as if it was left burned at the bottom of a pot all day. When I tried to tell the people there, they argued that couldn’t be the case and that their pork melts and dissolves in your mouth. That was not my experience. So I left the pork out for them to see for themselves that it was truly bad. They still made me pay for it. I never thought it was possible to ruin ramen and somehow, someway they did that and never took it off my bill. Maybe they’re only good for sushi and should just stick to that. Based on other reviews, I’m willing to give them another try for the sushi after I get this awful burnt pork taste out of my mouth.
The reponse below says I "ate most of it". The soup is 95% liquid and ramen noodles. I ate the noodles first then went for the pork. The pork consisted of 2 tiny pieces that were basically inedible burnt rubber erasers. See how they argue back instead of saying that the customer is right and offer something on them like other restaurants would do?
