The food was good, service was average. I know this is the Peninsula, however, the prices were crazy expensive. $46 for an average portion of sweet and sour pork. I can't justify these prices to bring me back. $25 for a cocktail.
One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. The lobster dish and noodles (cannot remember the name of the noodle dish, but it is the only noodle dish listed under the “rice and noodles” section near bottom of menu) are my favorite. Perfect place to dine with your loved one or best friends. MAKE RESERVATIONS WAY IN ADVANCE!
Max was an incredible host and server. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and cultivated an understanding experience. Thank you.
Service was slow & could be improved Wasn't up to the standards we expected of the Peninsula or what we experienced the last time we dined there.
Overall very disappointing based on the reviews we heard prior to coming. The service was very poor — our drinks came well after our meal, and while they were refunded and the staff apologized, it frankly made us feel rushed and like a low-priority client, as tables around us were receiving much more attentive and frequent service. As we dined, nobody came over once to ask if we needed anything or would like another drink (even water), but a dessert menu was forced on us. We ordered the duck, which came put pre-carved (being informed of this for $110 would have been nice) and it came out with soggy skin and at room temperature. The signature rice was very dry and required sauce to be enjoyable. There are dozens of good Asian restaurants in the city. Do not support this one.

What a wonderful restaurant! Love the old style elegance, our server Christina was fabulous, and the terrace was a wonderful experience. The quiet background Chinese music adds to the atmosphere. Great presentation with the food, and can't wait to come back.

Another amazing dining experience in Shanghai Terrace! The food was great. The service was great and they went out of their way to make my birthday special.
Had our small group family reunion here. The service as great and they were patient with the few kids we had.

One of the great dining experiences in Chicago, with a wonderful menu offering some of the most delicate and beautiful food we've ever enjoyed. It is a beautiful restaurant and provides attentive, unobtrusive service that is both formal and friendly. Shrimp appetizers are our favorite, and nothing beats the Peking duck. In our long experience of fine dining in Chicago, Shanghai Terrace is the very best.
Another wonderful evening at Shanghai Terrace. Beautiful night, great food extra special desserts.

Had the most amazing experience at Shanghai Terrace. The staff was super warmly and accommodating.
The food is way less tasty and good quality than in the past but the service is always impeccable
For being in one of the more luxurious hotels in Chicago, you’d think they would have unmatchable food and service. However, our wonton soup had a piece of plastic in it. Talk about terrible quality. The other dishes were average. Also, not to mention, they charged us for someone else’s dinner ‘accidentally’. Strongly discourage this place.

Great ambiance and service. Our waiter was phenomenal! Food was a little average, but great quality. I would go back for the crab wontons any day!
Amazing food! Each dish was perfect and the staff was so attentive to make sure the experience was wonderful. Highly recommend this restaurant ! The dessert (which we barely had room for) did not disappoint.
