Went to small bar with some friends last night during their happy hour. Got their frozen banana daiquiri which was pretty good. Didn’t have a strong banana taste. I got the Pleaser with bacon, fries and the jalapeño cheese curds! All the food was served a bit over room temp which made sense because of how busy they were but serving room temp cheese curds has to be a crime! Overall, food was good. I think I will try them again when they’re less busy but for the price, I wasn’t disappointed!

The food was good. The burgers on the bun were much tastier than the single patty over the fries. The fries were saltier than I think they should’ve have been (unless you really enjoy salty fries).
The curds were good too but they come with just enough sauce to be left with a few sauceless bites.
I would have given this place at least 4 if they didn’t rob me of $25 dollars worth of what i could only guess was either someone else’s order or a tip I didn’t know I so generously gave. I wasn’t given a receipt or a screen to select and sign for a tip. I reached out to whoever should receive the emails that the “contact us” page directs messages to, but it’s been nearly a week and no response. I either recommend you bring cash (which i can’t exactly recall if it’s a cashless bar) or insist on a receipt. Otherwise, pay at your own risk.

Ok like it says in the name, it’s a small bar. That said, they pack a mighty punch. The burger was yummy and the beer options were great. Only thing is if you’re not sitting at the bar you have to order everything at the bar and that was annoying. Even if you got to grab a booth (they only have 3 or 4) you still have to get up and wait around to order. Kinda annoying but I wanted that burger after smelling it for 10+ min ?

They claim that the burgers take 45 minutes because they're a "well known burger place." Every other well known burger place I've been to in Chicago somehow manages to make their burgers faster.

Do yourself a favor and go to Best Intentions if you're looking for a good bar burger. It's cheaper, faster, and better tasting.

if there was a five star rating for “the worst service a person has ever received,” this bar would already be on the Michelin guide. And one for “the most mediocre burger in Chicago?” they would kill the competition.

it was a good run. i’d never come back here

Small Bar is famous for their #smashburger and they are deliciously greasy ? but the waiting time is ridiculous, delicious but last time for us.

Burgers fresh cooked meat very clean and vintage looking dive bar

I shared a burger with a friend and instantly regretted not ordering my own

we weren't greeted when walking in so we didn't know Food and drink orders were through the bar only which was a first for me We didn't realize it till we looked around and seen it written on the mirror

I ordered the Paloma it was pretty sugary not sure if it was sour mix but maybe lemonade and soda water would lighten up that syrupy taste
Half the pictures shown of food aren't actually there it's just burgers and fries but they were so good and good price they don't really need to add more to the menu :)

The burger is beyond solid but be prepared to wait 45min-1hr on a Monday night for a burger and be stalled by the staff. Quality food inefficiently made and with an attitude.

Had so much potential to be a great smash burger, unfortunately we found it to be way too salty! A good burger you should be able to taste the meat and the sauce but we couldn’t enjoy it at all because of the overwhelming amount of salt. Plus it took forever to get our food and really I wouldn’t mind if it’s worth the wait- but it was not. Won’t be going back. Glad we got to try it tho!

Not good. The smashburger was burnt and flavorless and the fries were seasoned with MSG and tasted really weird. The potential is there, but they need to use better meat and lower the temperature of the griddle and season the fries with salt only.

Also, there is no table service so people are constantly standing over your shoulder to order at the bar if you are sitting at the bar.
