Food was good. Had the double cheeseburger housestyle with fries. And a caramel milk shake. Just be aware that indoor seating is counter style along the windows. There is more group friendly seating outside but it’s not covered or enclosed in the cold season.

First time trying as I’m new to Chicago. Burger fries and cheese pretty good but they forgot to put onions on my burger when I said extra and forgot my garlic aioli. Since it’s a blizzard outside I didn’t want to go back but it was still a good meal. Similar to shake shack but Cheval burgers are better!

I LOVE this place, would be five stars however they discontinued the chicken sandwich and many of the concrete flavors. Would really love to see them bring it back.

It took over an hour for our delivery to arrive and the driver went to the wrong address
Their food was delicious 🤤if you had Bru burger you will love this. Don't second guess the dijonaise, garlicky and makes the burger.

For anyone gluten-free, Small Cheval is arguably the best dining option in Hyde Park between their many gluten-free options, great-tasting gluten-free food, and relatively knowledgeable kitchen. Almost all of the menu is already gluten-free (chicken tenders, fries, most shakes) or can be made gluten free with a gluten-free bun. I loved that I felt pretty normal ordering here. We weren't ordering off a separate menu, and it didn't feel like a big deal to be gluten-free. Also, the burger, chicken tenders, and fries we ordered truly tasted normal... in a good way :) After my celiac mom questioned the cashier, she felt comfortable eating there and did not feel cross-contaminated afterwards.

Restaurantji Recommends
Guy taking orders at 2pm on 12/12/2025 managed to be rude to every person in line. When I ordered a lettuce bun and confirmed it was for a gluten allergy, he scoffed and mumbled to himself “you thought I was just going to assume?” When I mentioned it to my group everyone had something rude said to them. Hope my tip goes to the cooks in the back.

Delicious food! Prices are reasonable. Great outdoor space in the warmer months. Definitely recommend.
