Small Cheval has been very inconsistent in their hamburger quality. I just moved into the neighborhood 6 months ago and eaten there about 6 times, but no more. The last straw was Friday evening. The order did not take long (even though busy) and we were eating at the restaurant. The cheeseburger was actually COLD, though the fries were hot. It seems as if the cheeseburger had been made a very long time before the fries. The meat was also dry, though some pink showing. I’m very sorry to have had repeated experiences like this at Small Cheval - it is such a poor value now that I won’t be returning. McDonald’s (grilled patty) is actually a better product at a fraction of the cost! On a previous occasion where we got take-out, the meat was so un/undercooked-cooked that we had to throw the burgers out. The staff are always very nice and helpful.

Hit up Small Cheval in Old Town the other night, and man, it hit the spot. Grabbed their Signature Double Cheeseburger for about $11.99. Paired it with their Golden Fries ($4.99), crispy and golden, no complaints there. Washed it all down with a classic chocolate milkshake ($6.99); thick, creamy, and took me back to the good ol' days. Dropped around 24 bucks before tax and tip, and left feeling full and satisfied.

It was too cold to sit outside but I really liked the outdoor dining area/patio! I ordered the double cheeseburger and fries and I was pretty happy with it. The burger was uniquely seasoned and very tasty and I appreciated how it was oozing with cheese. The fries were heavily salted, more than my liking but the fries themselves weren’t bad. The burger was definitely the highlight though. I was thankful for the free water cup since I didn’t order a drink. I believe they also sell beer if that’s your thing. Pretty decent meal overall, I would try it again but next time with a chocolate milkshake!

Burger bun is super thick, fries are now five guys fries with less seasoning and we had to wait 1 hr for our order because the system got backed up. Was not the same 1 year ago, whatever they changed please change it back.

Whatever you guys did, please undo it! The buns are super thick, the burger isn’t as juicy as it normally is and I thought it was just one location!! But it’s not! Please go back what was done before! The fries are thick and not good! And what’s up with the truffle sauce being sold separately?! Please go back to 2021!!!!
Amazing burgers with fries and truffle cheese on the side! Really nice seating area and atmosphere! Definitely coming back! Good service and nice people. Slightly busy with DoorDash/online orders!!
