Smyth, a 3-star Michelin restaurant, provides a fine dining experience with sumptuous, balanced dishes and phenomenal service. The ambiance is lovely, featuring lots of wood, leather, and rich textures, creating a beautiful and comforting environment. Every dish and drink is memorable, crafted like edible artwork. The restaurant delights diners with bonus courses such as amazing burgers and fries, while the friendly wait staff ensures a wonderful experience.
Recent guests have praised highlights like the truffle-doughnut bite, Dungeness crab & foie dish, and wild seasonal veg ferments, noting that the flavors are bold and creative. The service has been described as excellent, and the wine pairings have been appreciated by many, flowing naturally with the courses. However, some guests still felt that the wine selection could improve.
On the downside, a few dishes, such as the avocado and eucalyptus ice, did not resonate with some diners. Additionally, the room temperature was cool, and the Lone Mountain wagyu and cherry dish was served too cold. The final course, an egg licorice and frozen yogurt macaron, divided opinions, and the 20% service charge raised concerns for some, questioning if an additional gratuity was expected.
Overall, Smyth offers a pleasant atmosphere with nice-tasting dishes and a casual-chic vibe, though improvements in the wine selection would elevate the dining experience further.
