The servers are always attentive, making me feel that my presence is important to them. The restaurant week menu was superb.

Just a great little hidden gem that never disappoints. The pasta dishes are outstanding and if you know you know—the ricotta cheesecake is worth the trip.

Very overpriced for the quality of food that is being served. Atmosphere was nothing special, it reminded me of a family restaurant not a romantic date night like I had been looking for. Disappointing to say the least, if you're going to pay over $200 for a meal for two, look somewhere else.

We decided to make our own sharing plate from appetizers and sides. The soup of the day, lentil, was hearty, hot and delicious. A bread basket gave us a choice of breadsticks and two types of fresh crusty bread to wipe up the last of the soup. A green salad with radish, tomatoes and onions readied us for a small plate of spaghetti with red sauce and a plate of polpette. The sauce tasted like the best kind of homemade. My drink before dinner was cold, bubbly and refreshingly NOT too full of alcohol to the exclusion of any other flavors. After the meal, I was pleasantly full and we decided this meal had been memorable. If we were Chicago residents, this would become our weeknight neighborhood pick.

We had to wait a half an hour past our reservation time to be seated. However there is a bar you can sit and wait at. The hostess was great while she managed the crowd at the door. Our server wasn't very friendly or attentive, just okay. It was our first time here so we asked for recommendations on appetizers but didn't really get much and he seemed annoyed by the request. Food was delicious and everyone from our party was satisfied. The portions were perfect as well. I would visit again but maybe on a slower night for more attentive service.

NYE and restaurant was busy. The space to enjoy a fine dining experience was extremely cramped. Waiter blamed cooking staff for forgetting our second course. Food was nothing exceptional and very small portions. Disappointed because I expected so much more as it was my wife's birthday and I wanted it to be special and the restaurant let us down.

My Husband and I came here to one celebrate New Year's, but also my birthday. The restaurant was not quite what I expected. I dined at this restaurant over the summer with a friend and we ate outside. The atmosphere was very relaxed. This experience was quite the opposite. The restaurant on the inside is very crowded, packed with people and a lot of noise and bustling. There was a steady stream of people in and out. A number of the tables are very close together and do not allow for a sufficient walkway for the servers. Therefore, if you are sitting with your back to that walkway, you keep getting jostled. Fortunately, we changed tables which made it a little better, but I think they went through three parties before they finally got someone to stay seated at the table we left. We took advantage of the prefix menu. I had the salad which was kind of tasteless and My Husband had the lobster bisque which came out cold. It took an excessively long time for the next course, which unfortunately was not very good. Main courses consisted of the lamb shank and veal scallopini. Both of which were just OK. For dessert we both opted for the Affogato. Unfortunately, this was like none I've ever had before, they replaced the coffee with Grande Marnier. It was so strong that it ruined the dessert. I would like to come back here in the nice weather to again sit outside. It's as if they are two different restaurants.

Our family loves Sofi & we've celebrated NYE here for years! Even on a busy NYE night the food and service were amazing! We love the fritto misto, gnocchi, tropicale salad, short ribs, bolognese pasta & seafood pasta. Enjoy!

We celebrated New Year's Eve at Sofi, and it was absolutely wonderful. The food was truly amazing—fresh, flavorful, and authentically Italian. Every dish tasted like it came straight from a kitchen in Italy. The service was warm, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere was inviting and family-friendly, yet elegant enough to feel special for the holiday. You could feel the genuine hospitality in every detail. Sofi is the perfect blend of authentic Italian cuisine, excellent service, and a welcoming environment. We left already planning our next visit. Highly recommend!

Warm and cozy restaurant, friendly waiters, and authentic food. Plus, the drinks are amazing, my martini was huge. We had a relaxed and lengthy meal and will return for sure!

Authentic Italian cuisine in a lovely spot on a charming street in the south loop. It's wonderful to support independent restaurants that are not part of a larger group. Everything is great here. I highly recommend!

We went to a matinee showing of Phantom of the Opera, followed by an early Christmas Eve dinner at Sofi... Dinner for 2, ordering off of the fixed menu at $62.50 each, 1-glass of Lambrusco, 2-bottles of Pellegrino, and bread. Price $292!!! Hmmm??? No disclosure of a 20% Service Fee (tip). I cash out, they swipe My card, and give Me the handheld machine, it happens to be on the “tip page”... The male server We had, had attitude the whole meal, He was too busy with being too busy... I felt sorry for Him, and tip'd Him 30%. I didn't know I was already in the middle of His big “con game”... It was a set-up... You won't see Me returning to Sofi, or anyone in My Family, or any one of My Friends... What a Beautiful Restaurant destroyed by its help...

Excellent atmosphere, professional staff, engaging. A place where you can have a conversation and do not have to shout.

The restaurant was overbooked and our table was in the middle of a walkway. Multiple people bumped into it while walking during our appetizers. We asked to move and they said there was nothing they could do. We ended up taking our food to go (which was delicious) but overall a poor service experience and would not go back again.

What a lovely small-sized restaurant. What I liked about the ambiance was that the decor was classy, and there were a few small rooms that kept the noise level down. It was so cozy and elegant. The food was fantastic. I would suggest the meatball appetizer. I could not stop at one meatball (I may have eaten every one by myself). The restaurant is close to the theater district, and the waiter was appropriately attentive to anyone who had limited time. Delizioso!
