witnessed bad interaction with store manager, I think her name is Vanessa. she was rude to the two black ladies in front of me for no reason. had to wait 5 minutes while the barista Jackie making my drink openly talked to her coworker about doing cocaine. there were no other drinks so it was pretty much just people in the lobby listening to her loudly talk about this while I waited. overall weird and uncomfortable.

First time there long time Chicagoan. Our order first got lost. I had to check on soup after 30 minutes which then brought a manager over asking if we'd received any food. Soup promptly appeared. 30 minutes later food showed up. The chicken pot pie is a less than hearty cream of chicken soup with a puff pastry top. My salmon and risotto - the risotto was piping hot but not cooked so a nice crunchy texture and my salmon was “warm” at best. I sent it back....15 minutes later I was told the risotto was not prepared correctly “yesterday” and they would be unable to remake it today. I asked for the check then and there. * we were comped our meal and tipped our waiter regardless because it wasn't his fault. I felt bad he had to deal with it at all. It is a large ornate and beautiful room currently only have full of tables and diners. At Christmas apparently a large tree is present. I've since been told it's great at Christmas...must not be great the other 10.5 or 11 months of the year. My bad.

It's a beautiful space. The server was lovely and the food was delicious and nostalgic. It's a part of Chicago's history and worth a visit!

Not the same as during Christmas time. A bit depressing honestly. Chairs and tables all put up

I had the French Onion Soup which was delicious. Our server, Annette was efficient and hospitable. Will be back.

The Walnut Room was just as I remember . My sisters and I along with my niece want to go there during the Xmas holidays but know reservations available. We will continue to go every year.

Food we not good at all for rabat the hype is. The chicken was very pale and flavorless. Restaurant service was solid but the venue and experience was not fun at all or comfy.

We waited 15 minutes in line to check in for our reservation; luckily we had allowed extra time, so we were seated at our reservation time. We sat with our menus on the table, waiting for service. After 20 minutes, we actively tried to get the attention of servers and even a manager to no avail. At the 30 minute mark, we got up from our table, and my son stepped in front of a manager to tell him that no one had come to bring us water or take our order or express any interest in providing service. The manager's response was "we're very busy today." Given the fact that reservations were fully booked for this date within 5 minutes of them opening for the season, this should be no surprise to him or his staff. He did not call over a server. He did not apologize. He offered us "a complimentary discount coupon," which we declined. I am glad that we were not banking on this as a our central holiday experience as a family. I will do what I can to publicize the fact that this restaurant seems to be coasting on years of tradition and a really pretty tree.

Absolutely the most beautiful tree. Reminds me of years ago. Please continue with Marshall Fields memories.

Tried to make a reservation at the Walnut Room a month or two earlier but everything was booked. Decided to put in a request to be notified on OpenTable if any last minute cancellations and got lucky. Had a great time celebrating my birthday with a friend. We both ordered Mrs. Herring's Original chicken pot pie and I had a Poinsettia cocktail . Our pot pie's were tasty and we enjoyed the petite Walnut Room salad that came as a side. Our waiter Jose was so nice and super efficient. When he found out I was celebrating my birthday, he came back with a beautiful commemorative glass mug from the Walnut Room. Thanks Jose and Macy's for making my 74th birthday extra special!

We attended the Saturday holiday breakfast buffet- we were so excited to get a last minute reservation off the waiting list on open table 20 mins before hand. Food was breakfast basics- marsacpone eggs were surprisingly good for buffet eggs. Probably better for families with younger children or those who may appreciate the history of the restaurant. My teen girls weren't excited to see the Walnut Fairies who visit your table and grant a wish. Overall for people who like traditional breakfast buffets with a holiday spirit- would recommend. The photo lady wasn't super friendly but our server and fairy were very nice!

We had a wonderful experience in the walnut room today. Our kids had such an amazing time looking at the tree and visiting with the Christmas ferries. Our waiter, Jose, was amazing! Super friendly and attentive. Great with the kids. Our food came out quickly and the desserts were amazing. The kids had so much fun building their ice cream snow men. We hope to make this an annual Christmas event!
