Worst customer service ever across all coffee shops in Chicago and this is my very first bad review ever given across all social media.

I placed the order when taking the elevator downstairs as typically the waiting time is around 5 minutes. A female staff member with long black hair and solid build. I don’t want to be overly specific because my intent isn’t to blame her personally but the store’s customer service standard, even though the experience she provided was extremely uncomfortable) had just switched positions with a colleague and taken over the front desk. She proceeded to ask the names of everyone standing around me, as well as those who arrived after me (about six people in total). This felt very exclusive to me, especially since I had already been waiting there for 15 minutes.

When I stepped forward to ask about my inquiry, she rudely interrupted me before I could finish speaking and, in a loud and commanding tone, said, “Just tell me your name.” I provided my name in the pronunciation my American colleagues use for my Chinese name, but she said she couldn’t understand it (even when I just pronounced partial of my name) and asked me to spell it. After I spelled it, she replied, “The order is not ready yet.”

I had already been waiting for 15 minutes, and multiple orders for customers who arrived after me had already been completed. At this point, I was seeking an explanation rather than just the status of my order. I attempted to explain, as my app showed “Ready to Go,” and I even tried to show her my phone. However, before I could get a word out, she repeatedly cut me off, saying “The order is not ready yet” in an increasingly rude and aggressive tone, growing louder and more dismissive each time. I cannot understand this behavior, I try to speak, she kept interrupt without allow me to finish my word for at least 5 times.

Even when the last time I finished all my inquiry by deeming myself have this authority, she said : “ I told you, it’s not ready”

I understand that this is a busy pickup point in a workplace building, but it was already 10:20 AM, well past the morning rush, and the queue was not crowded. I expected better communication—something more professional and respectful, rather than
1. Unequal treatment compared to other customers.
2. Constant interruptions and dismissal of my attempt to communicate.
3. People placed order later than me got their order, may I at least get a reason. You can even just tell me in a proper tone as sth like “the status might be different” or Bakery item may need more waiting time

If you tell me she may have been having a bad day emotionally, I could empathize—everyone has their moments. However, I noticed that she was polite to other customers, which made the disparity in her treatment of me feel almost discriminatory, even racist.

I don’t believe that trying to communicate about an app that shows “Ready to Go” warrants being treated so differently. I’ve had excellent service in this workspace before, as well as at other Starbucks locations, but this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. And as this is a working Space, some people might get down to pick their orders based on App’s status, it’s always good to make App status and real store order status aligned.

If you haven’t visited the mobile Starbucks at 227 W Monroe, you are missing out - bc KAREN is the absolute best. She has the most incredible memory… Karen will be calling you by your first name after your second order! It cheers me up every day to see her.

This review is specifically for the super kind woman who helped me this morning with my order. I was having a rough morning trying to get out of the city with my bf and dog in tow, and just needed a couple beverages before we left town. I didn’t realize it was app-only order/pick up location, and despite not having the app she was super accommodating and let me pay there on site. It made my day smoother and better, and she was super kind and calm about all of it. Small acts of kindness matter these days especially. The girl deserves a raise!

Orrdered a coffee and a croissant. Got coffee in reasonable time. However to hear a croissant took over 10 min. Was forced to leave without otherwise I would be late to work. It shouldn’t take 10 min to heat something up no matter how many orders in que.

Service sucks, they get the order wrong every time. And you’ll wait 40 min for it.

I am sad to see the negative reviews, but everyone who works here is extremely kind and quick as possible. I do not have as positive of an experience at other Starbucks locations. To the people who say they are always late, they are servicing multiple sky rise corporate office buildings during the morning rush. Also, big shout out to Karen at this location!! She is quick to learn names and drinks while bringing smiles to customer faces.

I thought American people want jobs. Is it very difficult to hire someone for ordering?

Congratulations on being a super star location!! The crew here at this Starbucks are very personable and seam to be all smiles. They do an excellent job preparing drinks with care. This is located on the Franklin side of the AT&T Building next to Amazon Go. They are super fast here so hurry up and claim your drinks and food.

Slowest Starbucks ever....and it wasn’t even busy. Eight minutes to make two drinks? I was early to my interview so I stopped for a drink, barely made it because of this location.

Good location, quick mobile ordering system. Efficient even when they're busy
