This place. Wow. Like a well-oiled pastry machine. I have gone there sporadically over the past couple years but really buckled down and started committing to every Sunday these past few weeks. lol. The variety is just astounding and the quality is second to none. I always have the intention of leaving with 2 or 3 things but so far haven't managed to leave with less than 9 or 10 at each visit. Take my money!!!!!!

Their seasonal croissants are really delicious. You cant go wrong with any of the options.

Oh my goodness! So good! We planned on only getting a couple treats but had to get 5! They’re so delicious. Come early there’s a line

the flatbread had a crazy amount of toppings, and it was a very large slice with an incredible and chewy crumb. The tahini chocolate chip cookies were flavourful and also the perfect chewiness. The banana pudding croissant was surprisingly light. The only thing that was off was the blackberry ricotta cake, the seeds were crunchy and offputting. The price is reasonable as well

Oh sugar Moon. Why are you so good. You're only open 3 days a week and it breaks my heart. My mom and family and I have a code word, we say hey can you go to the store and pick me up some provisions and I know that means basically go to sugar Moon and empty them out. There's always going to be a line and going to be worth it.

Ordered at 9:20 after arriving at 8:45. Went with the chai spiced cinnamon roll, cloud cookie, and bacon brioche. The cinnamon roll was pretty big and smelled immaculate. There were some hard spots around the edges but the interior was soft. It also had a nice caramelized bottom and the frosting wasn’t overly sweet. Next, the tiramisu cloud cookie which I chose over the lemon one. I didn’t know what to expect but the name makes perfect sense. This was literally the lightest cookie I’ve had. Basically eating tiramisu in cookie form. Finally, while I’m not the biggest bacon fan, I split the brioche and wow. Not much bacon but the bread was so so fluffy and an unexpected hard boiled egg tucked in the hole. I just wish this place was closer cause everything was phenomenal.

Food was amazing. An incredible selection of savory and sweet. I had trouble picking which one of the four very different things I ate was my favorite. The only real downsides are twofold: there isn’t a great coffee selection (since that isn’t their primary function) and there is very limited seating. Don’t let that discourage you because everything is easy to eat on the go or in your car and they will package it for you by default. Adding this place to rotation!

Sugar Moon is exceptional. Their offerings are always being updated and they never miss. Everything is delicious! The line might be long but it is worth the wait.

The line moves pretty efficiently. The decor is neat cute and clean. The pastries are reasonably priced for a bake shop.
Here’s the thing nothing is phenomenal or blows you away. I sampled with my siblings a leek focaccia, pizza focaccia, poblano everything bagel seasoned something with egg in it, cornflake espresso cookie, salted caramel blondie, chai spice roll and maybe something else. The sweet pastries don’t really stand out and most of them have flakey salt and feel one note. The banana pudding croissant was tasty but wasn’t memorable and had caramel it didn’t need. I went here because I heard from several people that it was outstanding. It wasn’t unfortunately. Okay pastries. I do feel like the people care about what they make. I wouldn’t go here again and I definitely wouldn’t stand in line for it either.

Unfortunately a disappointment.
Drove 20 mins, waited in line 20 minutes, outcome: mediocre, maybe below mediocre.

Sweet goods: Tahini cookie and cornflake cookie were good. But again just average, not a life changing experience or definitely NOT best of Chicago.

Savory goods: Cheddar scone, potato focaccia, mushroom focaccia, worst pieces of pastry I’ve had in a very long time. Overly greasy, salty, abundant/sharp and odd flavors.

I am genuinely shocked that this place is named as best bakery in Chicago, not even close. If you’re an average person who doesn’t know anything about high quality pastry, it may seem as something great because of the variety of goods.
BUT, if you know what a REAL GOOD PASTRY is, this place is not for you.

Delicious pastries and friendly staff! As many savory options as sweet. The banana pudding croissant was my favorite!! Went on Friday morning right at open and there was a small line out the door. Mainly grab and go but there are a few seats inside.

Bought so much, and I regret nothing. You will gain life. I dream of the sausage giardiniera focaccia as well as the Thai tea cloud. Go early. There might be a line, but it's ok. Worth It - Fifth Harmony.
