This place is a must stop for great coffee and amazing sweet or savory buns! Plus, it's right next to an L station. My husband and I frequent Sweet Bean whenever we are in town from Cincinnati. Thank you for great food and service!

I have been walking past this place every day since I moved here (I use the CTA Roosevelt Station), but I finally visited Sweet Bean with some friends from out of town and LOVED it. The coffee was good, nothing spectacular, but the pastries are really the unique part. They are self service, and they have sweet and savory pastries - I have tried a few and they were all amazing. 10/10 HIGHLY recommend a visit if you're in the area

On sunny weekends, this tiny place on the corner of Roosevelt and Wabash gets packed to the brim with people rummaging around the self serve cases for their pick of sweet and savory treats. Every time I go there’s a different selection of baked goods, but in all honesty you can’t go wrong. Everything is fresh and baked in house and there’s nothing like it anywhere. The coffee is always on point, and their smoothies and lemonades are not overly sweet like most places. The staff is friendly and easy going even though it always looks like a chaotic war zone behind the counter. Though I miss the made to order dim sum foods like shrimp toast and soup dumplings, they definitely make the most out of this small space and somewhat sketchy corner location. Can’t recommend this place enough. Five stars all across the board.

Sweet Bean wasn’t a sweet experience. Oat latte was too milky tasting. Self serving got more complicated with the new smaller bags. Baked goods were labeled wrong; I purchased an item based on the label, after trying it I went back to ask if I can get a different one and the response was “well there is a picture of the item on the label, if it doesn’t match then pay attention.” Overall the food wasn’t pleasant, coffee is mediocre, and service could use a lot of help.

Sweet Bean was within walking distance from the hotel my fiancé and I were staying at during a visit to Chicago so we took a chance and check it out.Simply put - we went back twice before heading home! It knocked our socks off.The pastries are airy, flavorful, and an absolutely incredible display of artistry! The shop itself is an oasis with plenty of seating (if you opt out of the take away option) and wonderful staff.

i go to sweet bean everyday for my coffee absolutely love this little gem but please avoid a staff member who is asian with long bleached hair wearing round glasses, i believe she just joined not long ago but every time i was there she was being extremely rude! everyone else is very friendly and sweet just like the pastries but she is so out of it, so if you see her there please run!

Can you please offer trays to dine-in customers? The single-use plastic bags are excessive, bad for the environment, and cause people to leave messes on the tables for other customers to clean up.
