I’m not sure what happened to this place but there are some racial biases at this bakery that I did not experience before. As a minority I did not feel welcomed at all and watched favorable treatment towards other customers who walked in. Particularly the guy with the black finger nail polish. He didn’t offer a receipt, I had to ask for a bag for my cake, and there was no greeting. Terrible customer service. Hire better front desk staff preferably those with customer service skills and no bias because this guy or baker doesn’t have it. Keep him in the back. I’ve been going to this bakery for years and was treated better by the women before these men being complained about in reviews. Needless to say I will no longer be patronizing the Lincoln park location.

If I could give zero stars I would. When I walked in to the bakery, the two young men that were working were not very welcoming. I was waiting to be helped, when another customer walked in after me, and they helped her right away. When they finally helped me, their demeanor was very rude. While checking out, I asked the young man for a receipt, he yanked it annoyingly off the card reader machine and handed it to me. They did not even say thank you, have a nice day, or come again. The customers were more friendly than the staff. I felt discriminated against and unwelcome. I will no longer be returning to an establishment where I am not welcome.

I placed an order for a delivery of mini cupcakes for Valentine’s Day and I placed the order by phone. Though I initially had to leave a voicemail message, they returned the call promptly, and the customer service was fabulous! The bakery person made the ordering process very easy, walking me through the options. And the recipients loved their delicious and beautiful treats!

Ordered a Bday cake (mind you it is quite expensive)
Everyone thought the cake was very dry and was not able to enjoy it with out something to drink. Frosting was very good. I called them, left a message to let them know and what do you know,(never get in touch with me ) Just ignored it.
NEVER going back!!

I ordered a 6”, 3-tier cake about 48 hours before I needed it. Choices are understandably limited, but I went with chocolate (sponge), chocolate (filling), and chocolate (buttercream).

I didn’t realize how beautiful this cake was going to be; I really just pictured something brown with orange writing, but it came beautifully decorated with some pretty, simple flowers and the words I asked for.

Unfortunately, when we took our first bites of the cake (happy birthday to my husband!), I realized the cake was so, so dry. It was either left out too long or overbaked. It was such a bummer.

When I picked up the cake, I bought a 4-pack of fresh cupcakes, which was great. The mouth-feel was spot on; I’m sure it’s what their typical standard is. Unlucky that we didn’t get our cake up to the standard.

Great assortment of sweets (pies, cookies and cakes and more). Splurged across three different pie slices (Banana cream, chocolate cream and pecan) and after tasting them, wish I had gotten more. The pecan pie was no lie, one of the best pecan pies I have ever had in my life. The blueberrypancake waffle was a fun delicious treat that really captured breakfast in muffin form. When Im back in Chicago, I have this bookmarked to return!

The banana cream pie was the best I've ever had and I'm really not into sweets so that says something. I liked the pastel colors of the cafe and the welcoming atmosphere. I dont think its wheelchair accessible.

They did an amazing job on my gender reveal cake at an amazing price compared to other bakeries. I will come back again!

I have gotten a birthday cake from them every year for 16 years and this year they have outdone themselves so I thought they deserved a good review. We also love all of their other desserts (especially the chocolate pie at Thanksgiving). They are the most certainly the best old-fashioned bakery in the area.

I am sweets-loving gal and I’ve never met a brownie I didn’t like. But Sweet Mandy B’s Hot Cocoa Brownie blew me away, knocked my socks off, sent me into a new dimension, it was the most divine brownie I’ve ever had. Run, do not walk, to try this seasonal flavor. Buy a second one so you’re not sad when it’s gone like I am. Then possibly a third so you’re not sad when the second one is gone.

I have been going to this place for years, but I think I'm done with that. I called this morning to ask about making a custom cookie sandwich. I was tersely instructed to place the order online. I explained there is no way to order what I want online (I was asking for them to make a double doozie cookie sandwich with their M&Ms cookies instead of the regular, something they have done for me several times in the past). The employee responded by simply stating they will not do that.

If that's the policy that is fine, but the interaction was so cold and unhelpful that it left me feeling like I don't want to go back. If management is reading this, heads up.

We are so glad we chose Sweet Mandy B’s for our wedding cake. Our guests could not stop raving about how delicious it was. One of the biggest reasons we went with them is that their cakes are moist, flavorful, and truly enjoyable to eat. Many wedding cakes from other vendors can feel dense or heavy, but Sweet Mandy B’s stood out immediately for taste and texture.

We ordered a three tier cake with raspberry preserve and vanilla buttercream, and it ended up being one of the best cakes we have ever had. They may offer fewer topping or decoration options than some other bakeries, but the cake itself tastes incredible and is absolutely worth it.

Our guests loved it, and we did too. We would happily recommend Sweet Mandy B’s to any couple looking for a wedding cake that tastes as good as it looks.

Sweet Mandy B's Bakery is an absolute delight! This charming, welcoming bakeshop feels like a little piece of nostalgia with its old-fashioned treats. The cupcakes, cookies, and pies are all incredibly delicious, fresh, and beautifully made. The staff is friendly and makes every visit feel special, whether you’re stopping by for a quick breakfast bite or a sweet treat to go. It’s the perfect spot for anyone with a sweet tooth — highly recommended!

While I've had so many baked goods from Sweet Mandy B's (frosted sugar cookies, cake slices, pie, cookies), by far and away the best is the cinnamon roll. It's gooey, with lots of cinnamon and icing. And every time I go in there, the staff are so nice and friendly. Quickly becoming my favorite bakery in Chicago.
