The beef croquettes and duck confit were phenomenal. The service was also so friendly, helpful and accommodating!

I live really close to here and finally tried it tonight. Trust me when I say this, the food/atmosphere/service all incredible! It’s a bit pricey but totally worth it!

Outstanding experience. The cocktails were delicious with the right amount of liquor and mixers. We got the patio seating and absolutely loved it. Service was great. We got the potato latkes and the fava bean dip. They were both amazing. So glad to have run into this place and I can't wait to return.

A little funky neighborhood place that really surprises with the food. Excellent selections and preparation. We had the charcuterie platter and it was as good as I have had. The beet salad was good, but did not pack the punch of the other dishes. The schnitzel.and the white asparagus were both very good. The wine list was small. For dessert we had the pea mousse. Give it a try. Service was exceptional. Very helpful people. I wish I lived closer by.

If you haven't been to Table, Donkey and Stick, you're missing out. It's a Michelin Star food experience in extremely unpretentious surroundings and with an amazing, friendly, and laid-back servers. I've been three times, the most recently for Mother's Day dinner, and every experience has been one of my all time best meals. The front dining room with the bar is a bit busy, but the rear dining room and porch are comfy, and I've never felt crowded although if you're at the benches you may occasionally be brushed by a waiter passing by. For the quality of the food they could pack me in like a sausage and I wouldn't say a word.

In previous visits I've had the charcuterie, and despite not eating pork I've found it to be delightful, and the staff willing to work with my restrictions. I've never had a bad cocktail here, and the first time my date and I ordered WAY more than we could eat and since they staged it out for us our waiter was generous enough to hold the last two plates we ordered (apparently he got to eat one of them for dinner, which is sweet) and I really appreciated his tolerance for our rookie mistake.

The menu changes often so food reviews are ephemeral at best, but I'll post so you have an idea of how incredible your meal is going to be. This most recent time, we got the following:

* Potato Latkes - you know the viral stacked potatoes that look like they'd be delicious but also look like a giant messy pain in the butt? Let them make it for you, they were unbelievable. I'd go back and eat an entire meal of just these.

* Beets and Oranges - I didn't know Beets could be presented in so many different ways on a single plate. We love a beet in our house and this was divine, each individual part and the combined bite of everything.

* Fried Polenta - Just enough, not too much, and the mushroom conserva on top gave it a richness that was deeply satisfying. There's no salt on the table and nothing at this restaurant ever needs more or less salt, it's always just right to complement the flavor.

* Beef Cheek Croquettes - Possibly the best thing we had, it was the perfect bite, savory and satisfying in the best way. This exceeded all expectations.

* Rabbit Pappardelle - Perfectly prepared, just the right balance of dressing to pasta, and the texture of the pappardelle against the ragu ingredients made for a perfect bet.

* Pea Mousse - None of us were planning to have dessert, and all of us decided independently we wanted to try this before both our busser and our waiter recommended it. I'm not sure how to describe it, it had so many flavors, a crunchy sort of crouton topping, and was somehow both savory and unquestionably a dessert. It is one of the top three dessert dishes I've ever had, and it might be the best.

For people new to small plates or just not sure what to expect, I recommend starting with 2 plates per person. Treat a large plate as two plates for determining your count, and if you get a charcuterie maybe start with one small plate per person and then see how much more you want. Discuss your order and try to favor things that everyone will have some of - you can always get more but the joy of excellent food is in the sharing.

Table Donkey and Stick is worth a visit no matter where you're coming from. I've come for their special meal on New Years Eve and although it was a prix fixe menu it was excellent and I was not disappointed. There is no occasion I would hesitate to celebrate here, and the only reason I don't eat here more often is to keep it special as an excellent experience in a city with so much good food.

Came in with a small group for dinner, all the food was good and came out quick. Highly recommend the cheese & charcuterie plate as a starter, brussels sprouts for the small plates, and gnocchi for the large plate category. The trout was good, however a heads up (which we didn’t know) that the fjord trout dish is not a white fish and was very similar to salmon.
The service was good but nothing special. The dining room is small with a few additional tables outside (I came in the winter so outdoor dining was not open). In my opinion, because there are boxes stacked around the cabinets and dining room ended up feeling slightly more cramped than cozy/intimate.

Amazing food and UnbeliEVAble how it's all made in house. Bread and butter alone gives this 5 stars, but then what wine list and selection of shareable and selfishly gobble yp-ables. I took my in laws here and they were safely within their own palates bit also exploring the best of fresh seasonal and creative offering Chicago has. No wonder this place is an institution, and no wonder the contestants updating menu is a wonder

Highly recommend schnitzel and duck mousse

The sound was simply deafening- I would definitely recommend getting some kind of acoustic dampeners.

But the food, service and atmosphere more than made up for it.

Took me way too long to finally make it here, but I'm glad I did! It’s got that perfect cozy vibe, especially great for Chicago fall and winter. The portions aren’t huge, but the prices totally match up, which is rare these days. Every dish felt unique without being too out there. It really did feel authentic to the alps! If you go, I'd say the pappardelle, burger, and sticky toffee pudding are must-tries. All in all, loved it and would definitely go back.
