Tried the Hawaiian Fried Rice and Twin Tower Sushi, worst taste. Not coming back and I don't recommend.

Came here for a birthday dinner. I got the silver platter. Every single thing was so good. The miso soup was really good and has mushrooms and caramelized onions. They also gave us a wonderful birthday treat!

All plate options were chef’s choice of fish, which I found really odd. Service and food were both a little less than ok. I would not go back.
This place is delicious! Highly recommend. Try the tuna tartare and all the rolls. Can't go wrong!

Very ecclectic and small. I took my friend here with me before we went to a concert later on in the afternoon on Saturday. The Sushi was fresh, and the servers very attentive to our needs.

Great food. Great atmosphere. Great service. Small and intimate. Cold near the door in the winter. BYOB was neat. Served the birthday girl w a delectable dessert. Will definitely go back here!

The food here is fantastic, but I prefer coming here during the day. It’s very dark inside at night time and unfortunately you can’t really see what you’re eating. Especially if you have poor night vision like myself. Also the presentation is very nice so I think that if it was a little bit more well lit, I think it would do the business justice. The music was extremely loud. The place is small so I would say that the atmosphere is not up to par.
The food comes out at random times, depending on what you order, everybody else eat first and mine came Last.
Prices are very good for the Chicago area. The food is amazing. Some of the best sushi I ever had. I don’t mean to complain about the other things. I’m not normally picky like that, but it really did stand out to me the lighting, and the loud music. I feel like the setting is too intimate to have. Loud hip-hop blaring but, would I come back? Absolutely

We decided to stop here after a concert. The food was good, but it was a little to dark inside for us.

This is a tiny restaurant, so there is nowhere to wait while you wait to be seated. They could have designed the layout better instead of placing tables adjacent to the guest entrance. The service could also be more accommodating.

Great place for sushi, offers a wide variety that filling & delicious. Only downside is the place is kinda small & always packed. The sushi pizza box is the best cause it fits about 6 to 8 different rolls, perfect for date night.

Tanuki Sushi & Grill is a hidden gem for Japanese food lovers! The sushi is incredibly fresh, and their robata-grilled skewers are bursting with flavor—I especially loved the grilled salmon and chicken. The rustic-chic décor creates a cozy yet trendy vibe, making it a great spot for a date night or dinner with friends. I also love that it’s BYOB, which adds a fun, personal touch to the dining experience. The staff is attentive and friendly, making sure everything was perfect. If you’re craving high-quality Japanese cuisine in a stylish setting, this is the place to go!

Been looking for a go to sushi place for frequent take out sushi in Chicago and WOW Tanuki did an amazing job. To start, the sushi pizza concept is great for getting together with friends for a sushi night. The rolls are also HUGE, definitely getting your moneys worth. The fish was very fresh and packaging was great to protect the rolls. Really appreciated them taking the initiative to go ahead and serrated package the gluten free items in our order. Can’t wait to order it again next week!
