I tried their take-out pizza box sushi item. I ordered 6 rolls. The wait time was 2hrs and 10mins (when I placed the order at 5pm). The rolls themselves were good, they were made in a rush clearly. The experience was good, and next time. The restaurant itself is on the smaller size, there are some outdoor seating available as well.

The sushi-zza idea is interesting. However, the sushi was not good unfortunately.
I’m literally obsessed with this place. It’s one of the best restaurants in Chicago when it comes to getting lots of food for a good price. The food is always amazing and comes out without a long wait. The restaurant is very very cozy so you may hear others conversations, but it’s worth it to dine here. Will be back time and time again because it’s so good!

It should be 4.5 stars only taking 0.5 off for cables and fans making a trip hazard.

HORRIBLE experience here last night. I placed an online takeout order at 6:10. It said it wouldn’t be ready until closer to 7:45 — I was shocked that it would take so long but proceeded with the order as their sushi is very good and I had the time to wait. I arrived at the restaurant at 7:45 and my order was not ready. They told me my order was being packaged and to wait outside. 15 min later I went back in and was told there was a kitchen issue and my order was still being packaged. I was told by the girl at the front desk that she would refund some of my order — this never ended up happening. I finally was given my food at 8:15. I got my food more than 2 hours after I ordered and half an hour later than promised. On top of that the staff was not apologetic and never followed through on the refund. The food was not cheap, I spent almost $100 here and the service was just awful. Their sushi tasted excellent but not worth the headache!!

So good
Just swung by Tanuki Sushi & Grill in Lakeview and dropped around $50 on a Tuna Poke bowl, Salmon Crudo, a robata beef short rib skewer, plus a couple spicy rolls—all BYOB. Cozy, rustic‑chic vibe with friendly crew, quick service, and fish that’s buttery fresh. Love the robata grill action and laid‑back feel. Legit date‑night gem—can’t wait to come back!

The best sushi! I live in west loop and I order from there frequently and it is worth the wait. Very fresh and clean and delicious

We placed a delivery order days in advance and the food was over an HOUR late. We had a boat reservation and had to cancel the order. They did not call ahead to let us know the order was delayed and provide an expected ETA. Overall very poor service and will not be supporting this establishment. There are better sushi options in Chicago to choose from with much better customer service. Don’t waste your time.

What a great local place to go to if you’re looking for some sushi and fun atmosphere and just a nice time I’ve been there probably 20 times and I go with my kids or friends and it’s great to just stop by to the friendly staff and get some good sushi or any sort of Asian cuisine that you were in the mood for.Just remember that it’s BYOB but you can get something down by Sheffield market if you forgot.
