Amazing food for a great price
Grabbed lunch here and got the Oaxacan pork sandwich on their fresh baked bread, honestly one of the better sandwiches I've had. Pork and caramelized onions worked so well together. Remembered last minute it's cash only which caught me off guard but there's an ATM close by so it worked out fine. Place is tiny and cozy, definitely has that neighborhood cafe feel, not fancy but that's the charm. Grabbed a cookie on the way out too, huge portion for the price.
When asked what would be my last meal, Panes' Chicken Club and Turkey, Turkey sandwiches (and the chocolate chip cookies) would be part of it. From the amazing food, to the hyper-local and warm personal feel of the space, to the ALWAYS friendly and careful service, Panes is an absolute Lakeview gem. Unfortunately, I moved out of the neighborhood 10 years ago - but I still make several trips back every year just to visit Panes and I still have their number in my phone.
