Everything was excellent from start to finish. We stayed way longer than anticipated and Chris our server, or anyone else, made us feel the need to leave. Appreciated the patience of our unending conversations. Definitely would go back for some traditional German Food.
Always an excellent meal at The Berghoff. I like that they've kept the German standards (sauerbraten, sausages, etc.) while adding some more modern fare. Just being in such a beautiful and historic place adds to the experience. The relatively quiet atmosphere - no loud music, just diners enjoying a meal - also enhances the time there. Prices are fair. Servers are friendly and efficient. Easy to get to. What's not to love?
The whole is greater than the sun of its parts here. I honest, tasty plate of food in an authentic and historic space with warm, unpretentious sevice. I hope to visit every time I'n in Chicago. There could be a couple more vegetarian options and more cabbage on the menu.
