Sad to see some reviews portray this hometown bar as a place of hate. I’ve been coming here for years and I have to say it’s a cheers bar. The staff is great, it’s nice to see the same faces and they always know your name. The customers are equally welcoming! Always love to visit.

I felt a racist vibe when I entered in and sat down. Sad to see my local bar turn into a place of hate. Won’t be going back.

Cop bar vibes, but dog friendly & generally nice folks unless you run into a couple of a on the clock having lunch type CPD'ers - eh. If in the neighborhood it's better than most, but if I was anything but a straight white-looking woman, (better if man i'm surrrre) i'd be weary. Ok.

Sara Jean was behind the bar & the vacant street made the experience quite surreal, having been a regular some decades past.

Incredible top notch peak Chicago-y dive bar spot that ALLOWS DOGS INSIDE!!! (See cute picture of my guy napping while we sip at the bar.) Joanne, one of the women who works there and has for 6 years, is a gem of a woman — an absolute pleasure to chat with, great server, and clearly takes great pride and passion in what does. Places like this are what give Chicago it’s character. Plus, who doesn’t love a bars that lets you bring your dog inside?! Or that has dogs to pet while you’re drunk?? Maybe people who can’t clean their feet before entering (IYKYK). Either way, the boozehound is a 10/10 spot to get boozy with hounds (and people).

"Sexy Jesus" was bartending. He was unwelcoming, rude and definitely over charged me. LAST NIGHT: (after midnight 7/3/23) I walked in and it was empty with two guys and just the bartender. It felt very unwelcoming despite my positive attitude. I told him I've went to like 4 different places hoping a liquor store was open. (It was Sunday and I had a long day I just wanted some wine!) I asked for a quick shot, then I was like YOU KNOW WHAT MAKE IT A DOUBLE and a 6 pack of beer to go. (They didn't have red wine) I swear to God...he did this quick little 3 second pour and really tried to stand there and be short with me... and tell me it was a double. The nerve. ( I was on FaceTime with my friend and he even saw and said the same thing!! ) MIND YOU I was there with a nice attitude. He knows what I just dealt with. My uber was waiting outside patiently... Little did he know I would have tipped him very generously if he wasn't such an ash hole. Nothing was open so I came here. But I'll never come back here again. I rather give my money to nicer, more respectful establishments who won't rip you off. In the end I paid $20 for a 6 pack and itty bitty shot that WAS NOT a double like I had asked............. I've bartended before. It wasn't a funking double bro. Look at the cameras and check your eyes. Proof of my uber receipt that I DID indeed go to several stops before coming to this disappointing establishment . DO NOT RECOMMEND. If you're the owner go check him bro
Me and my friend came in for a drink and our shoes were a bit muddy, we cleaned them off before we came in and the bartender was out side smoking and she’s like “no don’t come in here like that”. We were kinda thrown back and the bar was empty so we left. Yeah definitely dodge a bullet

Having saw this place many times while going over the Grayland Metra station, I finally thought to come in. It's located almost literally under the tracks, and inside you can hear the trains rumble. The Booze Hound has lots to drink of course, at pretty good prices too. Also lots of cool old sports memorabilia is everywhere. You can have fun looking at all the stuff while drinking and watching current games and sports. A classic feeling and looking old bar. It's been here quite awhile, and it's often been overlooked by travelers above it. This is conveniently located right off the Grayland Metra station. Has a sign out front you can catch a glimpse of. It caught my attention many times. Patrons here are mostly welcoming. It's about $3 for the cheapest beer. The cheapest whiskeys are about $6 or so. Has some things on tap, and lots more in bottles and cans. There's just not any food. Good bar to bring dogs. It's also a good one for sports fans who like to collect and look at memorabilia and random items. There's ton of classic crap along the walls.

Visited the bar to grab a drink on Monday evening and the bartender Joanna was very rude and at some point discriminatory. She also did not make my drink properly. Very disappointed. I been to Booze Hound before and Mary who tended to me was very pleasant.

Made it to the train with 2 minutes to spare. Thanks Mary, for the booze and the chat.
