As bars go, this is pretty perfect! I didn't eat, but the place was great, the service impeccable, lovely crowd, and spooky Halloween decorations to boot. I mean, if you're easily spooked, you might not like this place. Coward. But we did, and I need an excuse to get back to Uptown. Thanks, you beauties!

The Levee is an amazing place.
It will have been a bar for 100 years in 2028.
It is filled with history for everyone that will be shared with you of if it’s your first time.
Warren the owner is a legend of his own and a well known in the neighborhood.
Dianne and Warren make The Levee everyone’s home. They will feed you snacks and share history of Chicago with you.
This is a rare bar that still exists in Chicago.
The side room has two pool tables, free darts, and hoops to shoot. You can rent the room for very cheap for events.
You’re missing out if you don’t visit The Levee!!

We came in expecting a fun night, and for a while, that’s exactly what we had. Our hostess was incredible — energetic, kind, and truly going above and beyond to create a great atmosphere. At one point, she even joined some guests for a quick round of shooting hoops, which added to the good vibes.
Unfortunately, that moment of fun took a sharp turn. The owner, rather than appreciating her efforts, fired her on the spot. The energy in the room immediately shifted. Things spiraled from there — our bill was misplaced, staff seemed scattered, and the overall experience unraveled.
What started as a promising night turned into something chaotic and disappointing. The bar lost more than just a great employee that night — they lost the spirit that made the place worth visiting.

Fantastic neighborhood bar. The first time I went there I was welcomed by the owners and the clientele. Pool tables and dartboards available among the multiple TV's streaming sports. Cash only, but there's an ATM on site for convenience.
