This was an interesting experience. I went to this spot looking for Doozy’s which is listed at being at this address but it turns out it is only featured a few times a week. But some of the items from Doozy’s is served on the Marvel’s regular menu. The Kasamana rum was delish. Loved the flavor in the drink I had. The art and ambiance is amazing, low lighting, exposed brick, and black ceilings. Some things to improve include the service, the entire time I was there the bartender was tending bar & servicing the tables. He was also bringing people food from the kitchen. To say they’re under staffed is an understatement. I also think the bartender got caught up engaging in conversations at the bar and so it meant people waited for a while to be tended to. Which is a great tactic to get people to buy more beverages but not when you’re the only person doing everything. I would also recommend creating a playlist of the music of the cultures that are featured inside of randomly changing to a new playlist mid-song. Honestly, this is a great spot, great concept just poor execution. I give it 4 stars b/c I got good service & the food/drinks were good but in my observations people didn’t have the same experience I did.

Had a salad and some big hoppy beers on tap. The bartender (John) was amazing and the food was even better!Fast and friendly with African inspired food choices and a HUGE menu of specialty cocktails.River North drinking and dining at its finest.

Awesome concept.- They provide great snacks - we tried peri peri chicken rolls, beef and prawn sticks - tasty, spicy , perfect for beer;)- The pictures that you can see on the walls are selling.- We were on friday night and DJ started play her mixes around 9PM (music was great)- Nice bathrooms- Huge bar area and cozy, comfortable sofas ( perfect for date, because the sofas separated )- Personalized approach from bartender :)BTW. Highly recommend, Highly!!!

What a gem! The service was personable and outstanding and the vibe was filled with people who were so fun to talk to. We only ordered the Plantain Chips to snack on but the portion delivered was large and complete with many dipping sauces. Very good! All drinks were great especially the Whiskey Smash.

I wouldn't want to send people there without my full disclosure. So many people asked where is this place I gave my review as they asked and decided to share here.The place has potential but needs more wait staff.Presently, I would NOT go there expecting to get the food you ordered; chances are you may not actually get it or it will take forever (because of the lack of wait staff). One waitress took my order and never brought the food. Then she said we don't have what you ordered anymore. The co-owner/waiter also didn't bring any food to our table, even though he said he did but I was sitting there the whole time. ??The DJ was just ok. The bouncer/security guard was its best staff member; very personable yet professional.The appeal here is the decor; the art on the wall sets a vibe. We just need the service to match.

The whole place has a great vibe - from the art, to the music and awesome cocktail list. I'm vegetarian and loved the plantain chips, yuquitas and the spring salad (I could bathe in that dressing...) My fiancé loved the sliders and the lumpia. They had live art happening, and it looked like they have other events like live music, and food pop-ups coming up. Such a great addition to the area. Definitely planning my my return!
